Long Bay Reef Point Access |
| |
Drive down to 'Long Bay Beach', the North Shore's most Northern Beach, just past 'Torbay'... There are 2 sets of cliffs, the northern end cliffs which are about 2 kms away up the beach and the southern end cliffs which are about 50 meters from the first carpark on your right-Head around those, past small rivermouth, and you'll see the peaks breaking about 100 meters walk or paddle. |

Additional Surfing Infos |
| | The 'reef' at Long Bay is the first peak on your way round the cliffs, a fun left hander peeling around a kinner infested but spongy reef... Small barrel sections on offer in the right conditions... The 'point' at Long Bay is about 100 meters past the reef, its a small outcrop of rocks with a fun right hander peeling round the side of them, also small barrel sections on offer in the right conditions... At low tide the 'reef' is better as the 'point' is too shallow and you could get cut up by the oysters, but if the swell is big enough the point is fine... If you surf the 'reef' at high tide you will find its quite fat and slow, a completely different wave compared to low tide! Car parks for your car, normally safe area. Shops close by for that after-surf munch!

Overview |
| |
Atmosphere |
Cool place to surf, specially if your a local cos it hardly breaks and when it does its fun to be there surfing it...Big cliffs with lotsa houses on top, 'indo' looking style to the set-up!
'If' Long Bay IS breaking at say '2 foot' then up North 1 hour drive will be pumping - probably about 4-6 feet...Also the crowds from the Shore will be big if its breaking...
The whole North Shore has many reefs and points to surf in BIG swells, search for them, I've found a couple... |
