Additional Surfing Infos
Most people only surf here once. It's okay until you fall off and you are dragged accross the inside reef. It actually gets safer the bigger it gets. It is easy to find as it is the right hander breaking off the southern end of Wellington airport runway. Fortunately it is only 10 mins drive to the hospital.
  Overview
Atmosphere It's fairly freaky out at airport rights, what with aircraft taking off and landing only a few metres away. Also there are huge concrete blocks with rusty reinforcing sticking out of them next to the break. If you make your first wave you'll be wondering why no one surfs such a perfect spot, but if you fall off you probably will hit the bottom.
General I've surfed it once and I must admit it scared the shit out of me. Essentially it hardly ever breaks and you'd have to be a bit of a nutter to hit it. Possibly a good booger spot.

I used to check this from time to time if the Island was blown out...but it was never big enough to make it worthwhile. The footage on LotD was awesome though - very gutsy display...

I've seen this place many times, and seen many lunatics go out. Bottom line, its just not worth the risk , the ride is short and not great. Like the comments say, good thing the hospital is only 10 mins. Go for a geez round breaker instead. Much more fun.
