Additional Surfing Infos
Can be sucky and fun when the tide is right the drops are primo on the take off.Best on a easterly swell (breaks fast and hollow) but works on a bigger southerly swell as well (slower). One of the longest waves around Napier. Can be magical atmosphere in the bay (often some seals around in winter). Is sheltered and can be surfed on SW - W - NW winds. Now a little secret: When the swell is over 4- 6 ft a much faster and more hollow (sometimes barralling) left hander starts to work on the other side of the bay. The crowd (which is about 10 people) fights for waves on the right-hander while not many surf the left-hander. Saying this - the left is very close to the rocks and scarry. Be careful.

lidder
Have only surfed this place once, was truely epic(big E swell) one of the best right hand reef breaks on the east coast. Take off on the boil freefall into the barrel get spat out, a few turns maybe another barrel, EPIC absolutely loved it. With all that being said my mate who did nursing training in Napier
said it was the best he got it in 3 years. Think I might have got a tad lucky.

One of Napiers best spot
I am a local and surf Stingray for years. Best on a easterly swell (breaks fast and hollow) but works on a bigger southerly swell as well (slower). Be careful.
