By car:Getting there is a bit of an adventure: Coming from Whangarei head towards Hikurangi on Motorway number one(Twin coast discovery).Turn right towards Marua, Matapouri and South Whananaki, after about 10 km there is a gravel road on the left hand side follow it to whananaki south which means donīt take a left at Haile Rd to North Whananaki. Shortly before you get to the beach there is a very steep hill you need to make speed especially if you have a van. Or By foot from North Whananaki: Just take the small long bridge over the river(not sure isīt a river)to South Whananaki. |

| | Right next to the beach is private Farmland, you can ask the farmer to camp there, they donīt mind except for they have their cows on the meadow. This place is very quiet, a few farmhouses and a bit of fishing, thatīs it. The wave breaks best at the Southernmost point of the beach, there are some rocks.
