Atmosphere

The upside to orewa is that sometimes it can have long rides. This happens when the swell is bigger and is breaking miles out, so be ready for a long paddle. Orewa can be surfed in a stormy northeaster or on a good size ground swell coming down the coast. It is NOT the most consistant surf beach however.

General

Not a Consistant break, but fun when it is there and you are strapped for tim e.g. do not have enough gas or time to head further up the North East Coast. Great little Coastal Village for Food & drinks afterwards.

OREWA - The best thing about orewa is that when it does get a good swell, it is such a wide beach you can find your own spot.

my favourite wave! - i love this beach, just the right amount of power, nice mellow face and long slow rides allowing multiple turns and slashes, gets quite gnarly when over waist high, this is when i really love dominating the line up.

- surfed it good once, was breaking out passed the headlands, was getting long as rides. fun as and all the east coast surfer losers couldnt get out so they watched in awe as me and my west coast chronies tackled the mighty surf. seriously though it was fun as
