Additional Surfing Infos
You cannot beat the Barrier's East Coast beaches for surf that goes off. Get yourself a surf board and head for Medlands Beach for excellent waves. The undercurrent (rip) can be very strong so as a safety measure, always go in pairs.
  Overview
Atmosphere this spot is awsome you rent out a little house for the weekend on the beach and its the only one there so you have your own private bach for how long you rent it and it is famous for having the most brown teal ducks in the world so if your going to book the place out book months before
General mean spot best in great barrier just dont surf alone and watch out for sharks and rips

hoax
This place is a hoax which breaks averagely a couple of times a year if you're lucky. Ten to twenty years ago the bar would crank, however since then the sand has been completely blown out (by a series of huge close running kingtide storms in the late 1990's) and has never recovered. To go there on a surfing only trip is a complete waste of time, effort and money. There's still the occasional decent(ish) beach break to be had but be prepared for dodgy shifting sandbanks, that is if there is any swell at all, as it is flat for 85% of the year. A very expensive place to visit to just end up bushwalking or fishing. If you're a newage hippy with little experience of real surf you'd probably think it's heaven, but then again, if you're like that you probably wouldn't be into fishing or boozing which is basically all there is to do there most of the time. The legendary days of wild-eyed dope growers roaming the hills are a thing of the past too. The only thing that does remain is a very large and hungry shark population, no electricity or running water, heaps of alcoholic rednecks and a half a handfull of shabby (and smelly) hippy chicks. Oh yea, and multiple millionaire mansions that get lived in for two weeks every summer and aren't available to rent at any time by anyone. Basically, the place is a hoax (for surfing)

Can get quite good on SE swell however very sharky.Local hemp growing weirdos emerge from the bush when it breaks and can get aggressive. Area currently under land claim from local tribe, so be sure to check with authorities to ensure trouble free access.

Can get ok on SE swell. Very sharky. When it's on local hemp-growing weirdos emerge from the bush and can get a little protective. Area currently under land claim from local Iwi, so check with authorities to ensure safe access.
