It doesn't break often. The wave is hollow and very fast. The water is shallow. If you have not the required level : stay on the beach !
The bay and the view at this beach is wonderful. Even if you don't surf here come and have a look.

- i surfed this wave a few times, its not easy, but not impossible, and my surf level was not so good, but i had a good time... theres a left reefbreak wave in this area, called "motu martin", a bit dangerous too, but fun, ask to locals there, maybe theyll give u the way to go on...

Matavai Bay - December, 1788. - I am researching the history of Tahitian surfriding and have a surf report from December 1788 at Matavai Bay indicating the waves were closing out over the Dolphin Bank (outside of the point in approximately 10ft of water)and pushing through to the beach.I assume that this a relatively rare swell event, but any modern feedback was be greatly appreciated.
