By boat from either Seashell Resort but itis not very nice there, or you can go to Plantation Island and stay there which is a little more expensive or you can go to Namotu Island and stay there
Can easliy be affected by tradewinds so most surfing done early mornings.
Takes about 15 mins. by boat from Plantation Is. FD$40 No board hire here BYO.
Can take boat from mainland (Denarau Harbour)but expensive FD$90-130 depending on numbers. You can hire boards from here
A great spot allthough it is a bit expensive to surf it you have to pay 30 Fiji dollars each time you go and it is only in the morning they go from Seashell; so no evening sessions. I would recommend Plantaion Island
Overview
Atmosphere
Fiji is a great spot to surf, I love it there warm water and everything dolphins jumping around you and the clearest water you can imagine
General
There are a lot of other better places to surf in Fiji but this is nice
seadog
Stayed for a week at Funky Fish resort on Malolo island pretty much infront of Wilks and took the boat out over there every day. Couple of times had to go with small Jon's boat (which also serves Plantation island resort), but the boatdriver (Sam) was always 1-2 hours late, once the engine blew apart + once he almost capsised the boat on the surf. So preferred the resorts own boat when ever there was 2 or more guys going from our own resort. F.F. was pretty basic but inexpensive place to stay and close to the break. Had Wilks pumping one morning and one arvo. It was really world class then. But most of the times it was onshore. Easy to check the conditions from up the hill with binoculars and use a mosquito coil to see what the wind is doing ;)

seashell a hoax?
It seems a lot of people imply that seashell resort won't get you in the water. For a solo surfer without a chick coming the dorm price and boat price combo seemed reasonable. If the winds are ideal will they not get a boat out all day, or at least an arvo boat? Be gutted to know it was pumping and you were stuck staring at a lagoon. Should I just stay on mainland and boat out. Also to girlie surfer who posted last, are you sure Fiji is a good destination for you? There may be cheaper sand bottom options closer to you.

tell me more about surfing at wilkes
going in October 09. what board should i take? I prefer a mini mal, or 7 ft short board, and 3-4 ft gentle conditions. Ive been surfing 10 yrs, but still feel inexperienced, and get scared when its over 5 ft- am I going to feel safe surfing there?. Ive head you need booties for the reef- what about long wetsuit? is it too hot for wetsuits? please talk to me. From little Girly
