when you get to tavewa, go ask the resort for semi or jonny. they are the surf bras on the island. and they know how to rip" so get outta there way "haha"

Best time of year
I'm may be going to the Yasawas in the late April. what is the best time of the year for swell? Are the any other waves besides Tavewa in the area?

Tavewa
Turned out to be a fun fast right in the middle of the channel. Reef is shallow and beautiful and the wave was small but rippable. Unfortunately, I only surfed it once due to sensitivity to tide & wind. Great place to get wet as surf options are limited in the area.

just got back from 2 weeks in fiji
surfed tavewa 5 times and it was a sick little wave
just me and 2 mates and no other crowds to worry about
plenty of waves and keepan eye out for the sharks!

i surfed tavewa..it was pretty small, there was no goundswell but still lots of fun. would be a hell of a lot better with some size, but its still good when small...racy little wall.

Traveling Sept 06
Is this place ridable on a daily basis or is it one of those fickle spots that only breaks a few times a year? I will be staying in the Yasawas this Sept.on my honeymoon, so this will not be the typical surf trip. Any guidance in wave knowledge for the Yasawa area, including this spot would greatly appreciated. Thank you.

hey all,

i surfed tavewa island eary 2005. it was a sick wave. i travelled the area a bit and saw heaps of potential other surf reefs. as anyone surfed other reefs of quality nearby in the Yasawas?

Is there really a surf spot on Tavewa, or is this just BS?
