Waidroka has great waves and Serua rocks... Also just got back from Waidroka and had a blast. Serua is one of the funnest wavers I surfed, a long right hander which gets bigger and bigger and barrels onm the ionside. Frigates was unreal and Pipe is a real challenge. Waidroka weas great, people good and food and bar , atmosphere great....I'll be back in October - hopefully with a good swell..

How fickle is fickle I was curious about the Waidroka Area. I've heard its too fickle to bother with, and also that there are heaps of "world class" breaks. Which one is it? What type of consistancy is there? Would it be worth the stay?

How is Waidroka now? Heading to Fiji in late October and thinking of staying at Waidroka. Has anyone stayed recently to describe the accommodations and surf. Thanks for your comments.

re: Waidroka...again Despite repeated warnings, it's obvious some people have to try things for themselves. Waidroka Bay Resort is still no better, in some cases much worse, than it was 2-5 years ago. First it was the yokels from Arizona USA who started a dive resort, failed, and turned to exploiting the neighboring waves. Not being surfers, they preyed upon, rather than catered to, their new-found clientele. They crowded their boats, crowding the reefs, and charged guests for anything and everything over and beyond accomodation. It was a very frustrating experience. Now it's been bought by Isreali brothers who operate by the very same model. They don't surf either. And they apparantly don't understand the needs of the surfers who visit. They still overcrowd, but worse, they lag in getting their "full boats" out the reefs in a timely fashion. There is (usually) only one session per day at high tide. If the boat gets a late start, your surf is that much shorter. All this has been well documented. Believe or don't believe. It's your time and your money to waste.

nice wave, shame about the Waidroka place You'll like this wave if it's working - needs a northerly which is not so common in season. Waidroka resort is well situated and has lots of wave options nearby. Unfortunately when I went recently, it no longer visited most of them. You can't always trust their website but you can surf Pipe and Frigates. So do try and enjoy the hospitality of the owners at Waidroka. You'll need to try very very hard mind so good luck!!!

Waidroka Resort is Grim I recently stayed at Waidroka. The new owners are an Isreali couple and are reportedly worse than the previous owners. They certainly project unfriendliness, mean-spiritedness and incompetence in abundance. The staff are nice people but clearly unhappy, food is over-priced and tastes awful. The pack lunch to Frigates is miserable and inadequate. I was lucky to surf good waves during my stay but see no reason to return. The resort does not visit all the breaks advertised on the web so that only "Frigates", "Pipe", "Resorts Left", and "Serua Rights" are available. "Resorts Left" is pitiful and "Serua Rights" is a great wave but very inconsistent. Stay here if you want to waste your time and money in Fiji or alternatively want to see how NOT to run a surf resort, and be sure to check your bill for mistakes and extra charges when you leave. I travelled around and Fiji is a wondeful place, SO DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AT WAIDROKA!!!!
