Bells 1981 - The waves were probably biggest I've ever seen locally.A couple of mates and I slept in the carpark during the contest and woke up to see the unbelievable awesome lines. On the bigger sets 15plus Bells broke all the way to Winki.Simon Anderson killed it that day.The women couldnt even get out there,I felt for them.I remeber Nat Young and some others that werent even competing surfed that day as temptation was too much just too spectate.Mark Richards ,Cheyne Horan,ShaunThomson etc all had to bow down to Anderson and his thruster.I have some pix to bring out .Love to see video of that day if anyone knows a vid that covered it.
