Tends to get a bit bigger than the other coast (Bells, Lorne etc.)
Overview
Atmosphere
Crowds. One of the most crowded beaches on the mornington peninsula, esp in summer. The place stinks of sewrage, esp after a Southerly wind. The water is almost fresh water due to the 450 million litres of waste water pumped out each day.

its good melbourne people think that there's no banks down here, reduces the crowds. if you have local knowledge you find banks easily enough. there's always waves somewhere. keep searching pal...

A DUD
I'm from Melbourne and I don't surf gunna anymore, haven't for a few years. Rarely is there more than 1 bank the whole stretch of beach (1km or so). I don't surf the Peninsula beachies anymore as you usually end up driving for an hour checking everywhere out before hitting the water. There's the shipwreck coast, this is the frustrating coast. The only time I find this coast any good is when there is a huge swell for westernport. Do other people find it like this?
