Doesn't seem like 20 years since that epic day, snow down to the waters edge & outside outsides peeling all the way the through (still reckon it's a weird name, probably renamed by now??). Me, Taff, Dooba, Deano & Incubator had it to ourselves, I remember popping out of an epic barrel in front of the legendary Herman Tyson (he was God). I remember seeing Dooba slotted deep with pebbles being sucked up in the lip & the weird noise that barrel made full of rocks. I remember paddling into a big one with Taff straight in front & we went over the falls with him sandwiched between our boards. After hyperthermia set in i remember sitting on the point watching people getting severely beaten attempting to enter/exit the water at the wrong time. When things are that good ya never forget.....

south arm points
south arm needs a very big swell for the points to start working, 5/6m + .they work about 5/6 times a year depending on the low pressure systems,(980 or less) mainly in winter. rarely gets over 6 foot, if shippies is 10/12 foot the points would be 1 to 2 foot depending on which way the swell is coming from, shippies needs sw swell, points need sw/s swell. when they are on theres about 10 points around hobart to choose from. but to score these waves on holiday would be very slim unless your very lucky.
