Situated 20 min drive from Bundaberg town center. Just follow the signs to Bargara or ask a local. Use the directions to Kelly's beach then travel another 5-10 min north along the coastal road. The road will end when you get to Nielsen's Caravan Park. The beach is in front of the caravan park and a large surf club.
Works best in a cyclone swell or if there is a clean day after a howlng easterly. If there is some swell there are some nice rights off the breakwall.
Overview
Atmosphere
The locals here a pretty chilled, but have respect if there is some swell. It doesn't come too often so it can get pretty intense with a lot more people in the water. In summer there are heaps of kooks and clubbies. Bring your skatey, there's a sweet mini ramp next to the beach.
General
Its not worth a surf trip just for the waves, but the waves are good enough to keep you in shape for surfing other spots with more swell.

OZ East Coast
When arriving at Sydney with the van after 3000kms criss-cross along the east coast the question was: Has it been worth all the expense and struggle doing a trip half around the plan More...
Nieslon Park, not Nielsen's. My tip would be get in early and on half to high tide, before the local wind gets up and turns any clean swell to mush. Actually works as a right break as SE swell meets the southern rocky reef.
