check right along the beach eg. miami nobbies broadie surfers for the best spot. dont bring a big crew, dont be a dick. and enjoy your surf without the crowds
Overview
Atmosphere
the atmosphere here is the way surfing should be, cruisy laid back friendly locals, not to many bodyboarders or jap tourists and a good fun wave given the day.
General
not the best spot on the goldcoast, if your a day traveller from brissy or what not keep going to snappers or duranbah for a better surf. good spot for a holiday though, not far from the surfers night life.

Still learning - still in the whitewash found high tide was better waves and lower tide easier to get to the greenies!

Hard locals or what?
Good to hear that there are tourist nets to save the tourists from sharks. Are the locals so hard that a shark bite would just bounce off their skin? They must be, if the nets are only for tourists.

NIRVANA
1. yes there are tourist nets that "keep sharks out" lol2. for whoever entered this site, listen to the guy who calls the place murmaid and get it right!!3 for the other angry bloke, try finding your own damn break without using technology and see how well you do then, you might actually stop thinking wannasurf owe you something and enjoy the adventure of discovering a new place for yourself....4. I have lived in Mermaid Beach for 5years and love it, central to everywhere, world class on its day but keep headin south as someone else stated if our up for the day more consistent at D-Baaah.... remember surfing is about being one with nature, respect everyone and everything in the water with you and you will truly be enlightened....
