to surf this spot well you need to know how to take a beating. ive seen is 6 foot and breaking in 2 inches of water right onto the beach. but on other days it can break out a bit further. at least far enough to get a desent ride.
Overview
Atmosphere
its a bit scary at times. like when you feel something big swiming underneath you or when you tryin to drop into an over vert face and land on dry sand.
and again
fair dinkum no idea..Ok ill give you the full run down on the capricorn coast as it see it from someone who grew up there..
starting from farthest north.
switzerland and beaches north i wont even bother causeif you dont live there youll never find them or go there.
three rivers beach..this is where the best surf on the cap coast can happen on its day..protected from the five rocks it can hold pretty big and is protected somewhat from the SE winds that come with surf up here..ive seen it at 8-10ft during the rockin robin swell of '85.
Five rocks beach just around the corner..just as good but isnt protected from the SE trade winds that most surf is produced from in these parts..
Nine mile beach has a semi point break at the southern corner which is also protected from the onshore Se winds..
Farnborough beach..the coasts mr. reliable..
Little farnborough beach..the yeppoon end of farnborough beach..needs strong SE winds..
Main beach yeppoon..same as above needs strong SE winds and you can surf it at night if the tides are right..
Cooee Bay..ooh the bay can get good on its day..semi point break but doesnt really break like one although its protected from the SE winds..
Lammermoor beach..open stretch od shallow beach but can get surf in strong SE winds..seen it 3-4 foot after cyclone and with clean conditions at the southern end..
Statue bay..doesnt get any surf anymore bt have tried to surf it during a NE wind gale..back in the old day the old school locals reckon this place was the shit before they built rosslyn bay boat harbour..the old harbour that is before the new harbour extensions..
Kemp Beach..ok Kemp beach..who ever says they've seen kemp at 6 foot doesnt know wave size really that much at all..Although i have had a few good surfs here it rarely gets over 4 foot but is protected from the Se wind..yeppoon locals will swear by this wave but really its only cause theyre too scared to surf emu park where the locals take hold..
Mullumbin and Kinka beach have no surf..
Rita mata and Tanby point have all the potential in the world but are simply too shallow and dont break..especially Tanby point..this would be world class if i got decent swell..
Fishermans beach or fishos as the locals call it..Has a few different breaks but the main two are bowling greens which is half way up the beach and bell park fishos..protected from the Se somewhat but becomes more sideshore the more you go north up the beach..Apart from farnborough and beaches north this is probably the best wave on the coast when its good..
Ladies beach..small rocky cove that gets good but only up to 3/4 tide
Main beach emu park has the two spots..one in front of the surf club and also dwaynes cunt which is south towrds the rocks.
Shelly's..love her but at all park spots locals rule..
Coconut point..sometimes break but very rocky.
Zilzie beach..breaks sometimes also but not as good as the main beaches..thats about it..surf rarely gets above 4 feet..but does have awesome days for the locals who do the hard yards year in year out..There are also waves on great keppel island but this is more a secret spot and good luck with that

bigger the better
the bigger the swell the better this place is. holds any size wave u throw at it over 4ft. but i haven't seen this place good in years. i remember many years ago, 25knot winds for 5 hours and this place was 3+ ft. now unless there is a cyclone or extremely strong winds 30+ knots, don't bother.
