Additional Surfing Infos
ure a psycho if u go this break, very hardcore reef made of sharp rock and cunji. Extremely shallow, out the back, about 2 m deep, then sucks up on dry reef, hardcore break.
Take of peak cruble when it gets to around 5 ft then you drive through a barrel over shallow cungi covered reef called whitrock then IF you have make that then you ride high on the wave face through the infamous surge.
  Overview
Atmosphere Atmosphere is usually crap because of all the bodyboarders thinking there better than each other so its usually like ' oi, get the hell off my wave' even if your inside them and in prime position, so just shut up and wait 4 the right one.
General Its classic in the winter months but the lefts are the go with the summer NE swell and 4 the summer surfin kooks that get there on the train at around 6:30 and crowd every funkin spot in the nulla out to the max.

RUBBER PADDING
Me and my mates have been too scared to surf Shark Island but now the councils going to cover the rocks with a rubber padding. AWESOME!

Fierce Locals
Yea yea so i srufed shark island. the surf wasnt the biggest (mere 3-4ft) but i got barreled n im a happy kid. But for the first time in my short 10 yrs of bb, i wz confronted with the most fierce localism i have ever seen. If i had a bb come surf at my local break, which happens alot. I would be stoked if he got pitted or punted off one of the glorious sections my local has to offer. I certainly wouldnt degrade a fellow bb. And u might say yea shark island has heaps of dudes that come in and try to take over thats why the locals try to protect it, but 6-10 locals sittin on the take off-zone showing no respect and dropping in on other guys is a bit over the top. I even went up to this dirty nigz indian, who i found out happens to be Mr emerald bb specialists, and said a simpple 'hey mate, been out long'. The dirty turbin head snubbed me. I wasnt sure if he understood English or arab or wat. Maybe i should of ordered a kebab or asked for a taxi. That dirty turbinhead wrecked my whole island experience. On the brightside i dropped in on the kook at the end of the session got shacked an come out clean. Hey emerald stick to ur dirty vypers and cross ya legs when u spin. Seriously localism is bullshit coz it basically means no 1 can travel n surf unless the place is uninhabited (sumatra) n they have to stay at their home breaks. Sucks if ur a hillbilly!!!

You Sure?
aw is it a white tip reef shark, some one else claims its a tiger shark or possibly a nurse shark, i doubt that but, saw it the other week out there, second time in 2 weeks.....seems like its targetin all grommie kooks under the age of 16, beware all dondies...
