Who's keen for a surf
Hi. My name is Regan. I am currently teaching ENglish in Tau Yaun (half an hour away from Taipei)

fulong lake
Fulong is a nice place but if you're after waves forget it. After several visits I have not seen anything over ankle height and have caught the train down to Daxi everytime to see the big knee high kahoonas.

The Potential
I have always seen the potential of this place. I heard that it has some OK waves during typhoon Ting Ting, Ta-Shi was about 6-7ft and blown out, while I heard Fu-Long had decent 4ft waves but I was heading to Kenting and did not have time to check it out. Damn! Made a major mistake navigating and came over the mountains from Taipei hitting the coast at Toucheng. There is supposed to be some new highway - but it isn't built yet!! I saw some parts of it being built. It was a nice scenic route but took so long we were then behind schedule, if I'd taken the normal route I would had time to have a surf. We had to be in Kenting before nightfall. The waves were good down there too. Next time!
