Thalpe is around 15 minutes by Tuk south of Galle (5 mins from Unawatuna). The good break is just south of the Coral Beach Guesthouse (out the front of a small wooden hut with surf lessons painted on its sign). A well known local surf spot but overlooked by most travels as you cant see the break properly from the road. 100 rupees by Tuk from Unawatuna (one way).
Careful of the rocks at low tide - no urchins here though which is a bonus... be patient, what looks like mush can turn into some nice swell very quickly

Chilled out location - frequented by locals, most who are very laid back and happy to show you the right spots. Awesome sunsets - a good spot for duskys. A good spot for getting over reef fear as it is fairly deep in high tide.
