not a difficult spot to enter - The gentleman who claims this spot is difficult to get in and out of, wasn't thinking out of the box. If you go, you will find the wave at the far western end of the beach. Looking out from the beach you will see the inside reform filled with re-bar, concrete and other nasty things. You will also see people getting in and out here. But there is no reason to. Simply walk back a bit east around the rocks and then paddle out from the sand beach on the left side of the big rocks. Paddle out past and around those rocks and you will be to the left and outside of the peak. Mosey on over to the peak and wait your turn. While surfing, just remember to kick out before you get to the inside. Don't be tempted to surf the inside reform with the local kids. When you are finished instead of taking a final wave in, just paddle back around the big rocks and come in at the nice clean beach. Sometimes the long way round is the shortest. This is a fun wave and probably better suited for a longboard. The day I was there though there were quite a few beginners who had no sense of how to behave in a line-up. They were far more dangerous than the rocks and iron bars on the inside.

- Look out for the midget local who drops in on everyone. You'll know him if you see him as he drops in on absolutely everyone and is only about 2ft tall with a puffed out chest cos of too many steroids. Watch him, he's a feisty one, but a real pussy who fancies men and hits girls. Besides midget man, the place is cool, mellow small waves, great sea food and very laid back. Cental Beach Inn is a great place to stay also, very cheap and ace food!

mirissa- march - hey all, I've just come back from Mirissa, was really amazing, the swell was when the moon was half full and then it was almost 2 feet, not huge but very, VERY, fun, the wave is just pure fun, there is also a left hand wave on the other side that works in swell time, much less surfers and very long and fun... if you stay on that side of mirissa (the left side, opposite to the main right point) saty at sun-set guest house, the nices and cheapest, cool people and great food!

Nice place - Just back from 5 days of surfing at Mirissa, nice place and nice people, and for the people who does not like to paddle they can go in from the litle island clos to the left hander. Or ask the locals from where to go in. after the tsunami this people need tourist to go there. Also close to Mirissa there are others spots, nice waves early morning. Again be nice with the locals and they will take you there...

Paddle Nightmare, give it a miss - Terrible paddle here I agree with Bruce not a place for beginners, in & out is a dodgy experience. Watch the submerged rocks in the deeper water just near the takeoff for the rights. Give it a miss. Better spots at Hikkaduwa, although the crowd sucks. The beach break is a back breaker be careful, just a big closeout, you have been warned!Marrisa is a good place for people who want peice and quiet.

Not for beginners - This wave or spot is not for beginners. Hard to get out and get in and sea urchins are a menace

Paradise - French guy living in the Maldives. Went two times to Mirissa and can't get bored of this magical place. The wave is not outstanding but the spot is simply too much. The local crew is awesome ( be carefull when you go surfing and let your girlfriend with them: They will eat her alive!!!). I can't wait to go back there.

Mirissa - Magic wee spot. Surfed the right here on my last day in Sri Lanka - went home feeling like I had been a lucky boy in a special place. I hope the locals are finding their feet after the Tsunami....
