Alottelijalle aallot on kuitenkin kohtuullisia. Hintataso on kohtuullinen. Kypällä päivässä tuut toimeen, jos haluut. Vähemmälläkin selviää. Halvin huone viidakon puolella talven suosituimmassa mestassa maksaa euron (ulkoveski ja kaivo) ja paikallisraflassa riisit mausteilla vajaan (tosin tuossa turistikylässä huono laatu/hintasuhde).

Sri Lanka - Do you know why there's not many photo's of Arugam Bay on the net? Because it's just not that good!! Overrated and crowded to say the least. So a good indication of if it's good or not is if there some good photo's at least in the surf mags and I haven't seen any!! Hikkaduwa gets a few waves but again nothing really worth travelling thousands of k's for. Go to South Africa or the Canaries.
A - Bay - Dear Tal and co.:Look, I don't know if it's the right thing to go to A - Bay in August. Very crowded - poor waves and too much hassle. Better off staying on the west coast where it is much more consistent and easier to get to and cheap. You won't need a big wave board if you do decide to go to the east coast because it stays small and breaks close to the rocks. The reef is shallow so wear booties. Lastly it is a bit of a hoax there so do you really want to waste all that time and money? Better off in Indo - at least that way you know you'll score.

What's the deal with Sri Lanka? - Aloha! I need a nice long peaceful surf trip... The points near Arugam Bay sound good. The wave pics I've seen, the few I've been able to find, look good. A 400M right point sounds like the cure for me. Here are my questions that I humbly ask those who have the knowledge of first-hand experience in the area. 1. Are the waves for-real? July-August is the right time for the south-east Sri Lanka, A-Bay, etc. Right or Wrong? 2. Is it safe to be on that side of the island? I've heard that it isn't. What's the deal?Basically, that's all I am concerned about, waves and peace. 3. Anyone ever take the train through the mountains there? Thanks everyone
