Surf mate - Hey there, I am arriving to Sri Lanka mid July, 2005, and I am coming to surf for 3-4 weeks. I am a competant surfer and will charge most waves . Anyone else, who is honest and cool, well travelled and of the same surfing ability who wants to travel and surf? I am an Aussie surf chick with my wits about me. We can meet up for a beer in Hikkaduwa and take it from there?
surf during August - Can anyone tell me about the surf spots for August season? I believe we should go to Arungam Bay area, isn´t it?. Thanks for the infoAna (basque county)
Bikini - Jennifer, you can swim, sun and surf in a bikini but it is best to cover yourself at least with a sarong when you are walking around (either on the beach or the road). You should never go topless and it can even be bit uncomfortable walking the beach with just your bikini. Most locals would not say anything but they would be VERY uncomfortable. Some of the younger local guys can also be a bit forward the less you are wearing- don't bother taking the chance
help! - Im planning on taking a trip to A-bay in the near future, and I have heard that it is a Muslim area (for the most part). I definately do not wish to offend or insult the local people by being bikini clad, but I cant see myself wearing my jeans, and a long sleeve rashguard while surfing either. I just want to know what I can do, and what I cant. As I said, i dont want to offend anyone, but not being Muslim, I don't really know what to do about it. Any advice would be really appreciated. Thank you.

Good season? - Hi. I'm planning to visit the island in October/November this year. Is it a good season? What's the situation in the south of the country after the tsunami? What about the weather? Political situation? Thanks in advance. Txori.
- Before the tsunami you could rent ok boards, no problem. Now I can't tell.
rentals - Hi people, am studying in Sri Lanka and want to know if there are surfboards for rent in Arugam (for girlfriend)? Tried to call Siam and A-bay but got a lady speaking Tamil and I can't say more than Vannakam and tetani. Would appreciate an answer! Dolf.
august surf trip - Hi,me and a friend, both students are planning a budget surf trip to sri lanka this august. I was wondering if anyone could help out with a few qu's... is august the wrong time to go because of monsoons? is it cheap to live and is it necessary to book these beach hut type accommodation before arrival? what sea life will we expect...sharks?! i hope that the locals will be appreciative of our visit. Thanks Jonny
