Samaru Beach House is the best place to stay - Had a really good stay in Samaru beach House. Love the crew. You'll find them on 544 New Bypass Road in Pelena, Weligama. Right on the beach, great people, nice rooms, good food and relax atmosphere. They have rental boards and organise barbeques. Check them out on http://www.mtly.nl/samaru/index2.htm

How is it? - Hi there was wondering if anyone could help. I have never been to Sri Lanka but was planning a trip shortly before last years tragedy struck the Indian Ocean. I’m thinking of picking up where I left off in early 2006, the problem is that I’m finding it hard to find out any solid information about the social an economic situation on the southern coasts, I’m sure the waves are there! There are lots of questions I would like to ask but if someone could give me the facts first hand I would be very grateful.

best way out of columbo - Am arriving in Columbo in December. Whats the best way to get from the airport down to the coast where the surf is. If I arrive late is there a cheapish hotel near the airport to stay for the night. Will have boards with me.Thanks

Leave ya boards at home - Don't bring your boards to Sri Lanka cause there are already great boards there. Snapped boards who says. the boards are reasonable good - all of them that I have seen and used. If they are snapped yu cant use them right?

- take your own boards if your a serious surfer, as the hire boards have usually been snapped etc

Sir Fer - I would be more worried about dengue Fever and Phylia but malaria is there too. Nov is in between seasons but the south coast would be the best as the winds start to turn offshore more. A bay maight have clean waves but who knows.

Boards - Leave the boards at home there are great boards everywhere on the Island. Cheap to hire too about 500 bucks a day. There are plenty o surf shops in SL so everything you need - no problems. Bring CD's cause the music is crap.
