You must cross through the areas where the Government and the LTTE are currently bombing each other and civilians.. this starts at Vavuniya. Drive north to Kilinochchi. Go past Elephant pass and across Vaadaramarchi Lagoon Causeway (may be bombed now) to Thalyadi. Then boom! An endless beach.
Takes a rare cyclone swell to get it to work. Onshore winds from November give a decent windswell but when a big cyclone heads up the bay of Bengal from April to September,watchout perfect offshore winds....endless rights on immaculatly groomed sandbars.
