This place has no power or shape even on a huge swell.Poverty has forced the local children (and some adults) to live in the water near shore and swim around the tourists like little remora and snip out their wallets and eat their doo-doo see this is what you get as commonplace in the third world!!!

a long time ago
surfed puraran while on a traveling mission back in 84, locals said only 1 or 2 Japanese had surfed it previously.

rented a concrete typhoon shelter of a 1 armed guy by the name posada, anyone know off him?

i was there for 4 months feb to may, had some great days, seemed consistent back then, or have i been obscured by the mist of time!

Catanduanes Trouble
NPA and young unemployed drug hoods abound amidst public corruption. Those that have come before have already breached the virginity of the island and so the locals are learning that surfers / tourists are cash cows. Long flat spells makes people like Warren Bolster (inventor of the name majestics which he pulled out of his arse in 87) want to go back to manila for a hooker til the surf picks up. Remote location and sharp coral promise all takers a couple days out of the water with infection and fever. Try Baler and ask about Apocalypse Now and Francis Ford Coppala's birthday bash during filming in Quezon Province.

Worldweary C9
Some folks aren't into packs of international pros and local shredders alike crowding a tight take-off spot like C9. Some don't travel that far to sit amid a high-wire crowd, no matter how good the wave is. That's why Majestics is more appealing than C9 to some.

think about it
Cloud nine gets better swell, has more breaks ,better food and a bit of entertainment.Magestics has fixed menu actually none.You eat what they give you.One wave.Guys who hassle and drop in.Cloud nine is great Magestics boring after one barrel.
