Holiday Inn Kandooma Hey, next month I'm going to stay in the Holiday Inn Resort on Kandooma Island for the week. Does anybody know if there is some surf around that island ?? Too far from Jails, Sultans, etc. Thanks, Igor

Suring honeymoon in maldives I am going for 2 weeks to the maldives in July. I looked at booking pasta point but the thought of paying close to $10000 left me feeling somewhat violated. I was woundering what are the best resorts to stay, so my girlfriend is happy, and I can get a boat to the surf? Thanks help.

Shocking news Pretty shocked to hear of Tony's death. Was there for a long spell last year, just prior to the Sri Lanka Pro, and surfed plenty with him. One session we pushed each other deeper and deeper on the point, seeing who would get drilled first. Of course, it was me - he always managed that drop no matter how bad it got. Looked after my daughter heaps as well when I was in the surf - real friendly and kind (when you got to know him..!). Hell of a sad loss. I hope the island doesn't get ruined as a result and his remaining family are well looked after.

Tony "Hussein" Hinde died surfing on May,27th Maldivian surf legend Tony "Hussein" Hinde died surfing on May,27th Tony “Hussein” Hinde, the father of surfing in the Maldives has passed away, surfing his home spot at Pasta Point on May, 27th. He was found face down near shore and despite CPR, could not get back to life. What can be believed as a drowning happens only 4 months after the tragic death of his wife Zulfa. Which is an immense tragedy for their 2 kids, Ashley and Mishal. In December 1973, Tony and his friend Mark Scaunlon shipwrecked in the North Malé atoll in Maldives aboard the Whitewings, a beautiful ketch where they were hired as crew. That changed Tony’s life completely. After a few months of refurbishing the boat, they realized how good the surf is. Tony once sent a postcard saying “I am thousand coulours away from home” And home became the Republic of Maldives where he turned muslim to be able to marry Zulfa and become a Maldivian citizen. For 15 years, he managed to keep the secrecy of worldclass surf in the atolls among a few friends. Which made it one of the best kept secret in the whole history of surf discovery. He was forced to launch Atoll Adventures in the mid-80’s and Tari Village because there were a few foreign plans to develop the surf over there. Tony Hussein always remain the landlord over the camp and changed to Dhonveli Beach & Spa in the early 2000. Local surfers in Malé will have a paddle out ceremony outside Varunulaa Raalhugandu, the main surfspot in the capital to give a tribute to the memory of their surfing father after his funeral. He will be greatly missed by his family, Maldivian surfers and countless surfing guests that he took care personally at Tari Village and Dhonveli (now Chaaya Dhonveli) http://maldivesurf.blogspot.com/

TROPICAL CRUISE a bad experience :( Yeah, such a terrific experience on TROPICAL CRUISE boat. When on board of Tropical cruise boat, www.tropicalcruise.co.uk I had to "fight" with jurassic beatles; they used to walk on me when sleeping. I never had a local surf guide as specified on my contract. A lot of time lost because the vessel sail no more than 3 knots (not 9 knots as thei site says). The boat at 5:00 pm must stop in a port and this is not specified on contract or internet site: I was the first to leave the spots, while my friends were still surfing. Motor generators fuck your brain with their impossible noise. Around them all the gasoline tanks: just a little firing and the boat will be a bomb. Interiors is falling down, beds are dirty flat prison styling put on some old and wet woods, bathroom are dirty and smelling and more than one time I had to share it with the beatles, as big as a mobile telephone. No way. I called the boat owners and asked for a solution: no way, they simply answered it was my own problem. A very bad experience, stay away from that!!! Never go TROPICAL CRUISE.
