Lagundri 10 years ago... I spent 3 weeks in Lagundri in sept 99. The surf was at least overhead every single day and we had a few 10712 foot days. The wave deserves its reputation. A LOT of power but quite an easy drop and a lot of water underneath, unlike the typical indo wave Lagundri is not a shallow bottom. A lot of aussie surfers but the wave broke 24/7 so you could choose your time. I stayed with a friendly family who charged the equivalent of 20 cents a night for the losmen (you were expected to eat were you stayed, that s how they made a bit of money). A lot of hassling and weird vibe from a few locals. I remember it as an incredible surfing experience but as the least friendly surftrip I ve done, strange place....

Serius Losmen Hi guys, my name is Matteo and im an italian surfer. I was in lagundri in april 04, was great! the best trip, the best waves that i surfed, really. i stayed at Serius Losmen, by the COOL brothers Junius,Serius and Tankius..i felt like at home they were wonderful with me..so now im reading all this bullshit and im asking..what happened, there? is something change, down there? i know that the tsunami and earthquakes made big shit, but why the people should change their heart?? i dont understand!! Is Serius Losmen still available? how are the cool brothers? if somebody know something, please let me know as soon as possible. A friend of mine is going in the end of september and i would give him more info about the situation now. thanx everybody. also here if u like.. matteo.vandi@gmail.com

good with the bad in four trips to morocco two to mexico one to south africa two to us three to indo malysia singapore germany spain uk blah blah hands down the most unfriendly uncool people i have i have met and shit to listen to, hands down was at sorake beach. couple trips there in total 14 weeks i guess over a few years. not saying names but i could count on one hand the genuine people i met there. all myt rips here were over land and ferry travelling alone so as far as im aware from my other trips elsewhere im easy to get along with........except here......but on the other hand when its 8-10 foot you will be hard pressed to find a better right on the planet i know i havent.

Do's &don't's 4 Nias '08 I'm planning to go to Nias in May and June, anyone some latest hints to smoothen the path? thanx

info Yes, Nias is difficult place to get to by land and sea, but if you're not a pussy and you don't need your ass powdered at every stop, you should go that way instead of flying. Its not that bad. Its loads cheaper, and at least its an interesting experience. The locals in Nias are great, show respect, show them that you're more than a tourist looking for a cheap losmen and you'll be treated well. Don't be foolish with your stuff and it wont get stolen. Don't drop in, don't be a prick in the lineup, blah blah blah...The food could be better, but the wave more than makes up for that. Oh yeah, the wave is sick!!
