Ekas worth the trek - Ekas is worth the trip to come by boat. Fuck the overpriced resort bullshit - cause there will be fuck all to do on land anyway. The place is absolutely beautiful, scenery and when the swell comes, it really comes. Outsides is not the most perfect wave but can really hold a lot of swell, 12-15 foot when we were there... But gets too much after a while at that size, which is when you go to Insides where....O.M.G the most amazing Right EVER. Not barrelling, but just so perfect to smash and smash and smash again and again...and surprisingly easy take off too. Resorts are bullshit though - fucking bullshit, we had a flat day and swam to shore - the fuckwits wouldn't even let us come in to have a drink! What would happen if one of us had presented with a serious injury? would have they then also been too exclusive to deal with us... as far as I can see - that kind of high-end capitalist type of holiday resort is just totally fucked! The majority of tourists that are likely to come to a place like Ekas ARE SURFERS. And 99 percent of surfers wordwide would aggree that you can't put a price tag on the ocean. Surfing is about the search, the challenge, the chill and the cool vibes.. No cool vibes about forking out a fortune to surf a wave all by yourself - fucking spoon fed bullshit!

accommodation at ekas - Does anybody know if there is a place 2 stay close 2 Ekas except 4 HOTP. Do they (HOTP) realy charge those ridiculous prices that they have on their homepage. Or is it like elsewhere...(pay one quarter when u show up)?

Great Wave - Ekas is a great wave surfed there April 2004, turned up by boat, it was flat had a sleep and when woke up it was already 3 foot. Jumped in at Outside but current was too strong so went down to Insides- within an hour it was about 4 foot and climbing, peaking at around 5 to 6. Surfed it 4 hours solid and slept well that night. The wave just continues to wall up and it is a long paddle back to the line up. Worth a look when everywhere else is huge.

misleadig - Overview is misleading.Dry season when most surfers go to Indo Ekas has only 2 breaks and only one with consistent shortboardable waves. That is the outside break which is extremely consistent and but with moderate or bigger swell is best classified as expert ability required. Inside is awesome but needs big swell to work.A couple other once in a blue moon spots not worth mentioning.Ya a beginner beachbreak if alot of swell. The overview appears to have been written as a free advertising attempt by one of the owners of the Planet Hotel. He paints a much rosier picture than is realistic. As far as the hotel it is very high priced for an experienced Indo traveler and it will cost extra for everything including boat to outside where you'll be surfing most times. Staff is great and food is good if overpriced. If owner has his way the waves will be packed with people staying at his place and rich westerners who buy land from him. Oh ya, Zbaru, I believe Kerry is Kiwi.Gerg is Aussie. And what constitutes an eco-resort.No he doesn't necessarily only hire from the immediate population. You are misinformed.

SURF EKAS FOR LESS - ALOHA,
IF YOU WANT TO SURF EKAS, STAY IN KUTA LOMBOK AND TAKE THE BOAT FROM AWANG, YOULL SAVE YOURSELF HEAPS OF MONEY AND WILL HAVE MANY MORE WAVE OPTIONS, IF YOU DO DECIDE TO STAY AT THE HEAVEN ON THE PLANET MAKE SURE GREG OR KERRY IS THERE ON SITE, REMEMBER THAT THE PRICES THEY GET ARE VERY EXPENSIVE FOR WHAT YOU CAN GET ELSEWHERE,LIKE MOTORBIKE HIRE FOR 50000 RUP PER HOUR VS 35000 RUP PER DAY IN KUTA, OR BOAT AT 250000 RUP FOR 4 HOURS VS 150000 FOR THE DAY FROM AWANG , SO STAY IN KUTA AND HIRE A BOAT FROM AWANG, AND ENJOY!!!

It's like this maaaate - Gee, you must be listening to gumpy, ignorant fellas when you're drinking your bintangs mate. It's like this - Kerry, an Aussi, who cares about people & our environment has built a small eco-resort and his mates building another one. They employ the locals in everything and are mindful of crowded waves turn-offs. They know they don't own the waves. Chill. I can imagine local surf guides getting jealous, but it's one wave of the many that they have to choose from and the crowd from the resort is about five. Chill.
