Ham Tin Access
Access from Honk Kong (HK) center is LONG ! Read the following indications.
Ham tin is in the Sai Kung country park (Sai Kung peninsula), North East of Kowloon district.
Because of access restriction, it's better to get there using public transportation... good luck with your board in a bus at HK rush hour ! Be nice, courteous with other travellers and it'll be fine.
At Choi Hung metro station (30 minutes), take minibus n°1A to Sai Kung (20 minutes), then bus n°94 to Wong Shek pier (10 minutes). Jump on a ferry or rent sampan to head to Chek Kung then Get on your feet and follow the signs to the beach (45 minutes)up an over the ridge. Ham Tin is the first beach you come to. To get to Tai Long Wan just head up the 'path' next to the far noodle place on Ham tin beach, first bit will have to be done mountain goat styleeee.
The average one-way trip from HK center to the beach is 2 hours.

Additional Surfing Infos
This spot only really works (as in there is a wave you can ride, not great...) when Tai Long Wan (sai Kung) is big and blown out. Head to the left hand side of the beach (looking out to sea) and tuck in close to the rocks. You will be able to get a fun little left hander coming through, short ride but worth getting wet after the hike over the ridge. You may be able to get a few other spots along the beach but most will be blown out, the rocks on the left tend to give a little protection.
As with Tai Long Wan, if you are sort of new to surfing, watch the rips and your position against the actual rocks.
  Overview
Atmosphere Good place to get a frosty one after getting a wave or two but don'nt stay too long as the sampans will charge you enough money to keep Micheal jackson in plastic surgery once it gets dark. A few people camp out at tai long wan for the weekend, worth doing but probably with mates as it is hard to convince the chicks they want to hike over a ridge to get to a place with no bogs...
General saves dissapointment when BWB is shite

Lucked into a swell here three years ago and have to say it was pretty good not classic but what do you want pipe= also hong kong surfers (like gibbs etc) are pretty damn good. Not first choice on a world tour but I wasnt expecting to get anything and was pretty suprised. Lets hope they dont develope the whole of the national park though/

Ham Tin is actually pretty good occasionaly. Most of you people who are saying that its crap have probably never seen it more than once.
