Get a ferry from Beilun (near Ningbo) to Zhoushan island, then drive to the easternmost island. There are several small beaches, one of them famous for the summer sand castle competition (this one should serve as landmark)

Just surfed at this spot yesterday. We got there at about 11:30pm. The water was pretty calm for the first hour and half or so. The waves picked up around 2pm and got pretty nice around 4pm. Recommend to surf this spot in the afternoon. (I don't think I will ever wake up in time to go there in the morning.) It was really nice since nobody, not even a swimmer in the water yesterday. P.S Anybody knows a closer spot to Ningbo than here?
