Haitan dao is an island ! Take a boat transit on mainland, at Daqiu city (less than 15 minutes).
On the island use public transport or use local hospitality ("but what the hell are you doing with that long bag ?!") , go to Pingtan village and follow the way to Haitan wan ('Haitan bay'). The wave is there, on the South side. |

| | The island receives swell only from North (Taiwan Strait) and with several other bays and beaches, it can handle several swell size, from medium to big-big.

Atmosphere |
There are NO LOCAL SURFERS.
Kids and fishermen will come by to look at you, take time to explain.
Accomodations can be found in Pingtan but expect no Western style hotel.

Good shelter to leave the crowds on mainland (i'm not talking about surfers !), Haitan Dao island is a funny surf trip with good waves on a regular basis. |
