Grew up there
Lived there for about 15 years until '93. Best time of year is end of April into July. I live in Aus and surf the superbank most the time now but still long for an un-crowded good day out in Zinkwazi. Summer is pretty good when that lagoon opens and a long sandbank forms along that point. We used to dig it open when it was near to bursting & along with strong NE wind it'd form a better bank. There are also a number of breaks south from the main point & bay.

zinkwazi can work
i have now lived in Zinkwazi for two years and have been surfing just as long. It's not a great wave and the sidewash is pretty much ever present but now that i'm really getting the hang of surfing and reading this temperemental break it can be awesome. When it's on, it goes off! It's very uncrowded and that makes it cool too!

Heart ache for Zinkwazi
I and my family lived in Zinkwazi for over 16 years. We were forced to leave S.Africa after we were crooked in our business by a family member. We are now back in England, where we came from originally, but our hearts are still in Zinkwazi.I can still hear the pounding of the sea, the call of the Hornbills, the chatter of the Thieving monkeys, stripped our fruit trees every year, the tap tap tapping of the sunbirds on the bedroom window, confused by their own reflection.I weep regularly for the days that were and wonder if I will ever get to see Zinkwazi again. If you haven't been there, go!, you will never regret it...
