Norths Cooks - howzit bru.. if your checking this then u probably know what a lekker wave North Beach is. I stayed in Durbs for a couple of years 1999- 2002 and scored sooooo many good days here. I also surfed with the now famous Jordy Smith and locals Wok, Nichols, PAin etc. They all rip the bag sooo hard, SA spots and surfing is fully underated. GO get em lads

Durbs Rocks Fully - I grew up in Durban having moved there from the UK at the age of 9yrs way back in 1975.Shaun Tomson and his late father shaped my first board, a 5'6 single fin stinger just as twins were coming on to the scene.I regularly watched the Gunston 500 at the Bay of Plenty with greats like Dane Kealoha, Gerry Lopez, Simon Anderson, Mark Richards Shane Horan. I now live in Spain and still surfing.I miss Durbs having lived there for twenty years.I served with the Durban Dog Unit at CR Swart Square and have promised myself I will return home someday.Surfing is an expression of ones soul and something to share with everyone.Indifference in the Republic has claimed too many lives already.Localism is indifference.Respect the rules in the water and enjoy it one and all.Respect.

saffa bodyboarder stuck in canada - I'm a proudly South African bodyboarder, born and bread in durbs (Glenwood boy), now I'm in Vancouver,Canada. Can't wait to get home, there's too many of us south africans in the UK, OZ and Canada. Look what we're missing out on!

dem were da days - I learnt to bodyboard at north when it was still a protected beach (no surfers). It would have been about 1982 and five or six bodyboarders would sit out at the end of the rock groyne going right into North, next to about thirty surfers going left on the inferior lefts towards Dairy. Those were the days! Now I surf and live in the UK, where thirty surfers is considered a sparse crowd! Remember Cyclone Demoina?

one day soon.... - First rode waves here on a surf mat as a kid in 1970. A huge wipeout nearly killed me and I didn't learn to swim until a few years ago. Now I'm obsessed with bodyboarding.Unfortunately, now, my nearest break is Llangennith, Wales .. which is not bad, but it aint Durbs. My parents were hounded by the authorities until we left the country in the apartheid years, and I've always sworn I wouldn't return, but time is a great healer, and those waves are a great incentive. What's Yellow Wood Park like these days anyway?

When you have been away - When you have been away for so long or living in Northern Ireland - any proper beach with sand will do! Durban beaches are the best! You dont know what you have until you've left it behind....
