This left has 2 sections. The first one breaks in front of a swimming pool. It's tubular and fast. It works with a consistent swell and should be reserved to experimented surfers. The second section works with smaller swells (starts at 3ft). It's easier to surf. Be careful at the take-off: you should have an eye on a submerged rock. The final close-out isn't dangerous. Check also the north of the creek by big swell: you may find a good right.
Overview
Atmosphere
This is a beautiful place. Very powerful and hollow when big. Some really classic sections (sometimes a Pipeline-like take off zone) but with choppy ones due to the rocks below. Quite dangerous. Don't surf alone.
i simply confirm
a phantastic but dangerous spot, never surf alone and take your stay at manapany as a cultural experience because we are not a touristic place at all and even less a meeting point of the surf community. about sharks: i m not really shure they are more frequent, bigger and more dangerous than elsewhere as long as you respect the basic rules to avoid troubled waters and critical times. i live in manapany les bains and keep a small touristic structure and i can assure not having met problems with surfers knowing their responsabilities and limits. just drop me a message in case you need more information. peter (57) unfortunately getting too old to surf this spot!

reefs are fine here. they sucked dry but were not clouted by any big waves. manapany is a very cool place. Don't go alone in the water because there are underwater caves here and well known breeding ground for huge hungry sharks. Beware.

anyone know how the reefs are after the tsunami? All breaks unaffected, or what?
