Heavy waves crazy trip! - Well I have actually also been there, a long time ago. Must have been around 2000 in august. Not that windy when I was there, more like a seabreeze coming up around noon. You go out in the morning with the fishermen in the offshore breeze and come back in with the offshore midday breeze. The waves are way offshore on a huge sort of reef pass that also has an island. On the outside of the island is a heavy hollow righthander and there is also another right around the corner of the island thats mellower. then there are two more waves on the reef pass. One left and one right. Also possible to surf the beach as the reef pass is big and wide. The waves are consistent and big, PLENTY of swell! Be careful of reef injuries and sharks. I saw some big sharks that the fishermen had caught.. The people are very friendly even though they are very poor. Food is in good supply if You enjoy fish. Water is a bit more scarce and not superclear . Bring a portable waterfilter. A crazy trip to go for these waves..but very interesting place Madagascar. Friendly but very poor people, sometimes the begging of money etc gets annoying. Good luck

windier than annual dinners at the bean society - 100km/ph wind. tent full of sand. but great people. i never saw the wave cos i had too much sand in my eyes. the village and reef described above is a few km south of androka- i forget the name of the village. there are three androkas, each consisting of 4-6 stick huts (no mud in these parts). only one androka is accessible by car- try to track down a zebu charet. no taps, bottled water or accomodation here. come prepared + don't flash your camera around- it wont get stolen, but these people have nothing + i recon it's bad form to show off your fancy stuff- be discreet and lucky and hopefully you'll score
