Drive on to the Ilha - across the bridge beneath the old forteleza. Once on the Ilha turn left and head as far down this road/track as possible. You'll en up in a 'mosseque' - so make sure you get your car guarded. From here the waves can be seen directly in front. Alternatively, go to the big embayment in front of Neto's mausaleum - the Luanda space project - and find a way onto the island (swim the 50m channel). Walk to the far end and paddle out. This is a different location, but the wave is exactly the same choss.
This spot needs a really big sw-w swell running - and then you might just get some soft waves rolling gently in - longboard country.
Known to have been surfed once or twice - but you've gotta be desperate. The water, right here in front of the main bay of Luanda cannot be good for your health.
Overview
Atmosphere
You'll probably catch something nasty from the water (but then again its not so different than the water at 'Miami Beach' bar up the Ilha where everyone swims ....), and the locals will think they've finally really seen *everything*!!
General
Surfing as close to Luanda as possible, but the waves are very sloppy and only worth it if you're really desperate!
Chicala
One time I went on a surf expedition to Angola and wound up in chicala. The place ws all 100 yard tube sections and eight foot glass. Totallty Epic! Choss?
