Surf trip description:
30 years ago I came here with 2 mates, this time I came with my 17y.o. daughter. the only thing to change was the amount of traffic and the number on apartments on the south shore( there is still chickens everywhere).I surfed every other day, first stop was Hanalei, I called it a solid swell around 6 feet I borrowed my friends sons old board(an 8ft piece fence it was that stiff), it was a dog but I had a few reasonable waves, next surf was PK's and centres around 3 ft, it brough back memories as when I was there before we rented an apartment at Prince Kuhio( its still there), did lots of touristy things with the daughter like Helicopter flights around the island and stuff like that, I changed boards and used a smaller board similar to mine in the smaller waves it made it much more fun. Surfed Centres 3 ft again, checked out Hanalei, stormy and windy a couple of blokes were out at Middles and Waikokos not me I wasn't up for it, same day we checked Kalihiwai it was nice around 4-6 ft but the crowd was out there with over 30 guys & gals chasing the waves on offer( when I was last here 6-8 in the water was a crowd and I surfed it nearly everyday. Next day came back surfed in the afternnon with 3 in the water, slightly onshore but fun and around 4 ft with no crowd, (it can still happen), last surf was back on the south side at Centres 2-3 ft, I caught up Max Medieros an old friend from the early visit. The surf was average the island was 10 stars, I love the place.
This trip has got the travel bug going, I can't wait to get there again
