I spent one week at Lacanau. Ok, it's not really far from my home but it's still good to be away. After several monthes of winter weather, the sun was shining during the week. Unfortunately, waves were small except for 2 days. I have scored some really good waves with beautiful shapes and long walls. Sandbanks are good this year.
I have also bought a new board. Firstly I wanted to have a twin fish for summer waves. I found a "Maurice Cole" board pretty strange: it's a 6'1", 20' wide and really thick. It's a big fish but the particular thing is the concave below: 2cm nearly all the long.
The result is a perfect board to start easily in mellow waves and it's still work in hollow waves. You need to adapt your surf as short turns are harder to perform. I have tested it in 1.5m waves and it's just great !! The speed is just incredible.
