Surf trip description:
Tales of cold, hard, waters which were empty because of this, led to a trip to Northern Ireland. Squidface is as disorganised as the camel ferral. As we raced to Bristol with his hangovershowing its ugly face, I knew it would be another surftrip where we'd miss the plane. We met my friend Jo who had offered to look after my car while we were in Ireland. She had just returned from travelling Mexico, and her tan made the squid perk up a bit. He was very apologetic when the lady at the counter asked for more money to get us on the next plane. I saw the funny side of it.
We arrived to harsh winds, and our buddy Ceiran drove us to his beloved Ballycastle. We had alook at the beach and he took us to his folks' B&B to leave our gear. We then went off to their house and had some food with them, and then sneaked into a local bar with some twiddly dee playing. The smiles were big, accents strong and Guinness tasted smooth. We drunk til the early hours and me and the squid had a midnite toke and argued politics until we passed out. The phone rang and Ceiran was on his way, the waves were ok and did we want to get wet? For sure. The B&B caretaker woke us and in a slurred tone, told us to smoke outside - I remembered the sorry reefa we'd had at 3am and felt bad. 'Ar dont worry bout im' Ceiran said when he picked us up, 'he's normally pissed by 10am.' Turns out he was an old friend of the family who had landed on poor ground and took to the bottle. Ceirans dad gave him the job of caretaker in the off peak season, with a free place to sleep.
