Surf trip description:
My wife and I were invited to a award trip by one of our manufacturer's to St. Kitt's Island and we stayed at the St. Kitt's Marriott. It was quite a trip getting there, as we had lost our passports after a recent trip to Seattle/Vancouver, earlier this summer.
After driving to Chicago, like maniacs, we obtained replacement passports and were able to fly out of Chicago through Puerto Rico, on to St. Kitts. We arrived and were wisked away to an old mountain top castle for a dinner/reception. Wow!!
The next day on the beach, I had already spied twin above water reefs, with a slab reef behind them, with waves breaking very hard.
Due to the passport fiasco, I was unable to bring my fold up Pope Bisect travel board, therefore since I couldn't find any one or place to rent a surfboard, decided to surf this reef on a ocean going kayak. This worked well, except the break was so shallow above the slab reef, that after a couple of waves, I decided to "quit" while I was ahead.
I possibly will be back, along with my surfboard, to again try this spot at high tide.
On our return trip, we flew again through Puerto Rico, where my wife and I spend an afternoon touring through old San Juan, PR, which was really alot of fun and history. While there, we visited an old fort and Catholic Cathedral.
