I got powerful lefts. Not all the waves were good to be surfed. I have done really fun turns. A good session.
the beginning of the wave wasn't powerful and it was hard to take.
but the end was a hollow opening wall.

It was one of those daysyou think it's good to be a surfer! I came early in the morning at the right spot at the right time. I found a fun left from 80cm to 1m, sometimes more. I was alone.
Even if the wave was not tubular, I got a lot of fun to surf it. I took 41 waves... I will have difficulty to do it better. As the wave was not very fast but has enough power to work my turns, I have done a lot of tricks.
A really good session !

After having missing the good sandbank yesterday, I get early this morning to go there. And I found the big right not as good as yesterday but still a really good wave !
I missed the 3 first waves because I was alone and it was hard to find the right take-off. Then I started to caught good ones with big carves and a lip on my head.
After surfers came. It was fun but really physical. Then we saw 50m south a incredible slab: it was Teahupoo !!! just perfect !! But the rip was too strong to take the wave (and I didn't have the level in fact)

Description:
The swell was big. And all the sandbanks have moved because of the tempest Klaus which have devastated my region. I found a solid swel. As the tide was low, I paddled outside and get some fun rights, powerful, hollow, but not too hollow.
After one hour, as the tide rose up, I came to beach. But the nightmate began: The waves were only big, thick close-outs. I caught only one wave more.
I was smashed by big sets...Exhausted I went out. I saw a beautiful peak: I jumped into the water again. I get smashed harder than before and didn't managed to go outside.
I came back. Then I saw surfers 500m up to the north on the most incredible right I ever seen here in ten years ! A guy (a really good surfer) caught a big stand-up tube, stayed 5sec completely hidden by the tube then went out !
I was too tired to go again...

I went to Le Porge but it was only a big close-out
. I checked to the south and to the north: nothing, the period of the swell was too long.
I went to Le Pin Sec. It was a good option. I have surfed a strange bowl. it was a left which started very slowly, powerless (I even took of in the foam, in the close out, wait to be at the bottom of the wave before to stand up), then a long, hollow bowl started. I get several cover up with a lot of speed !
A great session.

I decided to go back to l'Anse du Brick. And it was a good surprise. At low tide, on the left side of the creek, a bowl appears just along the rocks. The size was bigger than elsewhere and it was hollw and fast.
I took off just along the rocks (less than 10m) an I surfed along the cliff. It was surgrinsigly good ! I good really good runs.
Photos didn't showed this bowl: it was at the center of the beach and it was not as good.

After one hour, surfers started to come but I managed to get all the waves I wanted.

When I called the report, they said that the swell was rising rapidly... I arrived at Le Pin Sec but it was too big:2m - 3m perfect !
I went to Le Gurp and I found really good waves. But there was some localism: we were only 7 surfers !! The locals of Le Gurp haven't changed in 10 years. They have attacked 3 surfers for no reason. Only stupidity. (for myself, I kept an idiot smile)
at the end of the session: it was nearly perfect

Haaaaaa ! What a session !
The sandbank was nearly perfect. After the high tide, we found a god and already fun 1.20m right. Not hollow but plenty of fun.
The swell started to rise. The tide was lower. And long fast rigth broke. I got them fast and long. I could put some long turns and cut backs. It was paradise !
at the beginning: funmellow waves
you could already surf them good at the inside
At the end, you can see the long sandbank

We started the session with a lots of logistics: 5 surfers, 4 cars, rendez-vous all along the way, etc. We went to Le Gurp. But when we arrived, it was small: only one meter. Waves were beautiful but I expected more. We drove back to Le Pin Sec (and Gaby has the luck to be late and to go directly to the spot). And we got this:
Waves were solid: 1.5m , sometimes 2m. We had to make a long paddle as the beautiful rights in front of the parking were unreacheable. My friends were lazy and after 15mn of paddle, I reached the rigths. And it was the good choice. I got big long walls, alone, 100 m long with plenty of space to do tricks. Fast but not too much.

I wantedsolid waves and I got them! The swell was long : 11s so I decided to go to the north. At le Pin sec, it was nearly unsurfable. The paddle was hard. But after, I surfed 10 really good waves, rights and lefts. It was a solid 2m. As the tide was higher, I changed and paddled to a hollow left with 2 other surfers. Ouch, it was hollow: I got some hair dropped take off, and log hollow walls (1.5m). But unfortunately the current became stronger and it was impossible to surf.
nice shots (I'm on one of them)

What a good surprise! I thought we will find only powerless 80cm. When I came at the top of the hill, I saw a incredible left whith noone on it... All surfers stayed on the right which was obviously less good. I just ran....I understand that it was because of the strong current.
Nethermind, I surfed nearly alone for 45 mn with incredible lefts. only one meter but the wave was cranking along a perfect sandbank. I have tried all the manoeuvers I knew !!!
After people came. Longboards were not very cool as they took waves without politness. We changed of surf spot but the tide was now too low.
The wave is a bit hollower thant on this photo. You could surf 80m.
show the potential of the wave.

All the surfers wear wetsuits. I didn't understood as the water was warm. But they explained to me it was to avoid "kurage" (jellyfish). But i didn't get hurt.

I jumped into the water to surf with 2 other surfers: at the peak, I discovered thet the other surfer was brasilian who was working at the local Sony's factory
.
Waves were hard to surf and I was backside. But I got some good ones. Imagine a big shore break. You have to pay attention to the tripods. Don't coma at less then 15-20m or you will be projected by the rip into the tripods. Pretty ugly.

But after 20mn, swell increased and I get fun 1,20m waves:
But the swell continued to increased until 1,50 solid!
As I was alone and the outside current was strong, I decided to stop.

Fun waves: it's a shorebreak which is not a close out ! I had to rediscover the board I got: a thruster I habe brought in Japan. Waves were short and hollow.I surfed with 6 other japaneses who were very surprised to see me surfing here.
At the end: not my best session and my best surf but I was really happy to surf here.

How can I describe this session ? It was just perfect: a hollow left, powerful and tubular but not too fast. It's not often at Gironde. I took my first wave, a solid 1.5m, a long bottom then I brake down right in large tube...
We were only 5. Then I take a lot of beautiful waves with a lot of tubes. I scored 3 litlle tubes on the same wave !
Then, as it was a good sand bank, a lot of locals came: we were 25 at the peak ! But the atmosphere stayed pretty cool.
Thank you cylone Bertha!
it didn't close out: it was a beautifil tube...

After 2 hours, we changed of spot and found a powerful low tide sand bank: more than 1.2m, nearly a hollow close out...
This session would have been "4 stars" but I had a dispute with a guy. It was a bit sad.

I went with Wannaboy. We didn't surf together since one year at least! When we arrived, we were disappointed as the tide seem to be too high...We jumped into the water. We started to surf with fun but mellow waves.
The tide continued to rise and suddenly, for 30 min, it was heaven: a perfect right-left peak, hollow with tubes with only 4 surfers! I caugth a good tube but didn't find the exit. Wannaboy and me caught tons of waves !
After the time, the tide was getting lower and waves too. But it was still rippable until the end of the session.
