I paddled out from the lifeguard hut on the beach. It was a fair distance offshore, and me and the camel ferral looked in anticipation as the wave picked up from nothing. There were maybe 4 guys out, all of which had longer boards. (TBC)

Well, I went to byron with some friends and it was supposed to be a lot bigger than what it was... i think thats because we were at the pass and not a more southerly facing beach which would have picked up more swell. pretty huge crowds as you would expect being the first weekend of the school holidays. I still had heaps of fun though, nearnly ran over a heap of kooks that kept getting in the way but i guess thats just something you have to deal with at this place. it's such a bummer that it's gotten so crowded because it's such a nice break... good for everyone as there's bigger waves out the back that taper down as they roll along the point. perfect place for beginners as they seem to already know because there's plenty of them. kinda good in that sense that there are alot of rookies and therefore if you've got any idea you'll do alright.

super small but not crowded at all...good times strands has some nice little waves, i had a lot of fun...strands point was cool...nice beach, very beautiful...saw 5 dolphins swim right past me =)

I had lots of fun with the small summer waves here. I was riding my friend's funshape 6'10" fish for the first time and learning how to use the rail to turn. I got two 4 ft waves all the way across the beach, very fun, had to do a floater over a buoy

Surfed south of Hueneme pier with Todd, Ryan, Josh and Josh. Swell was about 2 to 3 feet. Not too powerful, but some fun ones. Checked Shores this morning, and it was a little bigger today. Too bad I had to work.

Awesome begining. after 2.5 hours I wore out a bit and waves got small and unpredictable- not alot of places to go.
Cut off a helicopter pilot surfer. It was an accident. It was one of my best rides- I wasn't paying attention to the ride- It helped me be smooth.

Like swimming upstream in a river. Worth it whe we got to the point, but every wave meant another 20 min.+ paddle back to the point. Ouch. Don't know if it was the swell size that made this rip or how low the tide was, but it was brutal. And surprisingly I didn't have any 300 m rides this day as I have in the past when it's been about 7 feet. Seems better at 7-8 feet.

Description:
The surf was going off when i was here on Saturday avo. It was a solid 4-6' with nice peeling waves coming through.
I stood on the beach (next to the showers) and looked at it for a while. It didnt look too good as it was in a bit of a lull, but as soon as i saw Tom Carroll (yes...the Tom Carroll! - he has his own quiksilver store about 5 mins away) take a great right hander smacking the lip the whole way, i knew it'd be good. Shame that was his last wave, he's a great surfer to watch!!
It was cranking!!
I took a couple out the back, which came all the way through to the shorey. Just as i was paddling out this massive set came through!! It was a solid 8'+!!! and just came thorugh and smashed most of the guys out the back...including some poor cunt losing his board when his leggie snapped!
I was a bit sick of paddling so i sat with one of the locals near the shorey, and took some more rights - just the 2 of us.
The sun slowly came down, and was time to head in. Was soooo bloody cold out of the water, had the heater on the whole way home to warm up my feet!!
Time for a new wetsuit!!

I wake up early this morning. I knew that the waves were not sure to be there. Everything was ok: the weather was sunny, warm, the wind offshore. BUT there was no wave at all...
Only 50cm of perfect wave. I took several waves but it was only a take off and a ride without any moves.
Set of the day and it's not a joke...
