I started alone on this little fun wave: 1m not powerful but with a beautiful shape.... Waves get better. After 30mn, 3 surfers came but it was fun as the waves get bigger (1.2m) and hollower.
Unfortunately 6 other guys came and the swell fall. Nethermind, I caught some good ones (one tube, one aerial...a good session ! )

Best session ever! 2.5 metre waves, all perfect barrels! Was absolutely packed though... oh well, it was worth it! Got inside the deepest tube I've ever got in (that I've made it out of!
) and there was plenty of space on the faces to do big carves and spinners. BEST BLOODY WAVE!!!!!!!!!!!!AAAUUUSSSTTTIIIII!!!

I woke up early this Sunday for my last session in Hawaii after living and surfing here for three years. Tuesday I fly off to Coco Beach to start a new chapter in my longboard expieriance. I was the first one out to catch a falling tide knee to rare chest glassy "threes". After catching a couple and misjugding a couple more the morning crew arrived. After surfing here for as long as I have, I know that when I am in a new spot I ensure those that surf there more often get a few good sets in before I start charging again (Haole surfing 101). However, these guys must have thought me a Kook or truly believed they owned the spot, I got pushed, snaked, and down right run out of the premo outside sets. I know my role in Hawaiian waters when alone so I moved to the inside where I started catching some smaller and softer, but still fun, waves until I had one die out unexpectedly and I ran the nose of a borrowed board right into a submerged concreate block.... this threw me right into a bed of urchins! 42 spines in the right hand, too many to list in the right foot and a few in the behind left me scrambling to get back on the board. Unfortunatly the board had a 3" gouge right in the nose. An hour later after using some tweezers and solar rez all is almost right in the world, my buddy is happy to have his repaired board back with a case of beer as thanks and I am looking forward to surfing my own stick in a friendlier break. I would like to wish all those that I have had the pleasure of surfing the breaks of Hawaii with a warm and heart felt mahalo for everything. For those who think they own the breaks.....where is your aloha brudda? Much love to all and I will be back again.

Scott and I hit up our last Saturday dawn patrol together in Hawaii on yet another day they were calling flat. We hit up in-betweens knowing there would be glassy conditions, not to mention I was staying in a hotel just off from the break. We were very pleased to have the break all to ourselves for the first two hours of the session and riding solid knee to waist (more knee than waist) waves. It was like a revolving door of surfing and paddling back out. This may havebeen the smallest day that we ever expierianced at this break, but it was hands down one of the most fun! The surf gods truly blessed us with a great day with awesome friends!

Scott and I cut out of work early to hit up what was supposed to be a growing 3-5' North swell with Kona Winds. To our surprise the swell has slowed and will not arrive until tomorrow and will be overhead plus! We drove from Haleiwa to Turtle Bay checking every break along the way and found blown out knee high waves. Since we both live over in town we thought we would continue around the island and just see how the swells were on the Eastern shore with the Kona winds. We were amazed as we checked in on Goat island... knee to waist clean & glassy walls with no one out! We ran back to the truck, grabbed the boards and had the session of a lifetime. With the exception of a fifteen minute lull we only spoke in hoots and yells as we passed each other in the endless cycle of paddle turn ride, paddle turn ride. For a day without clean surf we found our oasis...

Took my three sons to the beach for mothers day and decided it was a great time for lessons. My oldest (10) has been learning for a year but the other two are just starting to show interest. The waves were a clean 1-3 feet and pretty fun. I even jumped in for a half dozen short rides in the shallow beach break. My oldest caught two on his own while my middle (6) needed a good push to get in the small break. My youngest (4) loved riding the shallow white water break near shore. Mom had a great day of relaxing in the sun and taking pictures. A great way to spend a mothers day in Hawaii!

I didn't expected much waves this morning but we decided to have a look. And we found this: a 80cm - 1m perfection !!! 
A good right-left. I started with my fish alone on those candys. The people strated to come and I get my longboard. It was really fun to surf as the waves were pretty long with a perfect shape.
The crowd starts
At one time, there was too much people so I decided to change. I went to a smaller peak with a 60cm perfect wave !!!! It was such a pleasure to take all the waves with nearly no paddle and just stand up on the longboard.
At the end, it was a gooood session....
I went back to the water later in the day but, except the turn below, it was crappy.

Waves were small, really small. We were not at the best moment of the tide but we had some fun with Peter as it was its first session.
But I get a really good moment: a nearly 1m wave came, I caught it with my longboard and I tubed ! in and out....with a longboard... not a cover up but a small and opened tube.

Scott and I hit up in-betweens this week for the Saturday Dawn Patrol, since we had so much fun last week in that area. We hit the water by 0530 and were the only two out for the first thirty minutes. We each caught a good four or five waves that were in the waist high range when we got the bright idea to hit Kiasers that was breaking a little bigger. We padled over and each caught two or three waves with only one other guy in the water before the waves dropped, people showed up, and I got dragged across the low tide reef. We sat there for a good thirty minutes before the next set came in and we had to fight eight others for the small waves breaking late. We decided to call it and paddle in via in-betweens. Much to our amazment when we hit the break there were clean knee high waves and only one other surfer! We spent another hour nose ridding, smacking lips on cut backs, and just having some plain old fun. All in all for being windy, choppy, and cold by Hawaii standards (and getting my leg sliced up by coral) it was a great morning to watch the sun rise over Diamond head and Waikiki from the line up.

Description:
Sexy glassy waves, caught one of the best barrels I've ever ridden, so that was pretty sweet, went out with my mate Elliot.
Waves got really small after the first 3 hours, but still good for inverts! Sic session!!

Scott and I headed to town for the Saturday dawn patrol, we started out heading to Kawalos, but there was a large boat stranded on a very low tide reef. So we moved down to Kaisers, Fours, & Threes. We were in the water by 0530 and surfing some solid fast chest high waves by 0545. This was Scotts first time in this area and he has added it to his favorites. There was a solid friendly older local crowd of about 10-15 people and we were all great about sharing waves and even giving up a couple so there could be some great mid face nose rides! The lefts at Fours and the Rights at threes combined with the crew in the water made this an unforgetable session.

So I went the afternoon with Matthieu and Loig. It could not be more fun or perfect !! We get funny 1.2m sometimes 1.5m of tubular waves. You just have to choose yopur right or your left.
Even if the left was not as beautiful as the right, I decide to surf only the left as I was alone. It was maybe the session were I have surfed at my best level...

I went really early in the water to be alo. And I was rewarded as the waves, even not perfect, were hollow to surf. After 30min to understand how the sand bank works, I get good hollow waves with tubular sections.

Went down to town with Scott for a little Aloha Friday pre-work session. We are catching the falling southy that has been here all week with high trades. We were the second and third people out to the breaks at 0520 and they were rolling in at waist to shoulder with the rare head high. There were plenty of waves to share and a great group of older surfers talking story. If every session could be this good I would never leave the water!
