Description:

Considering this was one of the hottest days this summer and it was nothing but clear skies with slight off shore wind w/ a little sideshore it was a very nice day to go out.

This was my first time surfing in WA state with a 4/3 mm wet suit with booties so that was a little restrictive but I did get used to it.  Hands got cold and had to keep warm the whole time but the rest of the body was fine...booties did great...feet were never cold.

Bottom line it was a very nice day.  I was out 2 hours.  The sets were nice with a few in the 6-8ft range but a lot of walled out sets with a few sides you can catch.  Break also is right on the shore so as the tide rolled in it broke closer on the beach as the waves weren't catching out farther...they had to roll in to break except the larger sets.

Another swell is rolling in this weekend in the overhead range according to the forecast so will head out again & report back.  It'll be interesting to see the crowd difference as there was only about 6 guys out with 1/2 of those if not more learning how to surf.

Weather and water temp: ?

Waves height: 1.0m-1.5m / 3ft-5ft

Waves Quality:
- Bumpy

Waves Shape:

Description:

Today it was me my two bros and my mom. The waves were mushy, soupy big and powerful. You could catch them at knee high and still ride 'em in. I had to stick with my mom coz she didn't trust me to go with my brothers to ride the big'uns, but after a while my mum couldn't be bothered to stay in the water so she got out and i started gettin absoloutley SMASHED, these were so powerful and were breaking so far out, you couldn't get behind them to where they break. I did a few times, but then i'd ride one in and have to start all over again. Not good. So i jut went for nice nicer looking mushy ones slightly further in. Today was quite good in terms of how busy it was. There were lots of people in the water, which meant lots of jumping off in case you hit someone. fun!!! But after a while most of the people in the water like swimmers and bodyboarders just gave up because the water was just to mushy and it was hitting them in the face and all parts!!! But the surfers in the water were loving ing it because they were just playing about in the whitewash.

Fins: 3 nsp

Weather and water temp: how should i know

Waves height: 1m-1.2m / 3ft-4ft

Waves Quality:

Waves Shape:

Description:

Today was beautiful, we got there from our windy and rainy house to a beautiful pembrokeshire west coast. The waves were small but they were loveley and glassy and broke perfectly. We got in after renting some huge 9 foot boards, one bic for david (my other bro) and an nsp for me. The waves were infrequent but coming in in sets. Ther weren't many people thre but the ones that were, were rather annoying as they were all body boarders who knew nothing of surfing etiquet, and at one point, this body boaring mum put herself in a position wich meant one person would get hurt. I was padling for the perfect most beautifull wave of the day, i started padling... speeding up quicker and quicker, the wave was still to fast so it felt as it was about to wash over me so i thaught; "now or never" so  got up and i slid down the wave and was speeding like never before, my balance was all over the place, with my arms flinging about the place, but when i regained my balance i was trimming. Then i spotted a body border who even though she saw me heading for her went for the wave. So i thought that some thing bad was going to happen but wasn't gonna come off such a perfect wave if there was a way around it. So i thought  to turn the other direction. When i turned around there was some guy, he was good, but he was turning towards me, i didn't know what to do, i thought about falling back but there were to many people around, i couldn't do much but... anyway we got out at about 7:40 and left to go home.

Session was good. Caught quite a few, stood about 4 times i'd say. I went with my bro (Jonathan) and my mom. The waves were pretty small to start but then grew as the sets came in. I attempted to catch quite a few to start but didn't have much luck but as the waves grew i greased the hinges and started to catch some nice waves but wth the board being a funboard i would just slide off. (i wanted a 7'9" but i probably wouldn't have had much luck.) Then i started to get up and surf the waves. We got out of the water at 7:45 and headed back.

Description:

Finally had some spare time when some swells showed up (small is better than nothing).  The tide was coming in, but the waves were still solid.  It was my second session of the day here and the wind was a bit stronger, but I didn't mind the chop as long as there was something to surf.

Some other locals were complaining about the crowds, but even for a Saturday it was pretty quiet.  I guess they are used to surfing with less than 5 people within sight?  I had no problems with other surfers getting in my way during either session.  There were 3 solid sandbars breaking so people were spread out and everyone was catching waves.

I talked to some other locals and they were friendly.  The weather in the late afternoon was much better than earlier.  The water felt so hot in my first session combined with the sun.  I was actually wishing for some 70 F water to cool me down.

Lots of jumping and spinning fish in the lineup, which of couse also ment lots of pelicans.  Thankfully no swimming predators were seen.

Some of the weekend crowd left soda cans and plastic bottles all over the beach.  After my session, I chilled out in a chair on the beach with a cold beverage.  Finally as people packed up and I could tell that no one was going to clean up their stuff, I got a bag and filled it with junk to toss in the dumpster.  The beach is quite clean and I'd like it to stay that way.

Anyhow, the waves were fun.  Myself and the others around me were getting as many as we could handle.  Solid sets of 3s were coming every 5 minutes or so.  They were fairly straight on (just slightly from the SE) so there wasn't much sideshore current to deal with this time.

They were eas to catch but when we got up on theboard they would just sink because they weren't powerful enough to hold our weight so the board would just sink. Not good. With all of the bad luck we got out pretty sharpish and headed home.

It's a good board for beginners.

Description:

Leisure suit Larry recently deported from Thailand (but that's another story) came out with me the other morning at Ray Bay after having surfed such exotic Indo spots as "Cloud Nine". On his first wave in waist high junk he grabbed his board with his left hand as the wave closed out and not only bruised his forearm but tore his bicept! The Doctor said it may require surgery ... Mother Nature can be a MOTHER!

 Leisure_Suit_LarryBicept

July 20th not too bad out at Baracudas. Glassy conditions with some clean shoulder high plus peaks from a SSE tropical storm swell off Mexico. Took out my 7'2" Super Fish for a change-up. Not very crowded just me, Uncle Tom and Pinkie plus a couple of girls ... until the summer hordes showed up at 9 AM! Thank goodness we had some thick fog roll in ... my eyelids were getting sunburned from out current sizzling heat wave!

Weather and water temp: sunny but colder water 16-17 deg C

Waves height: 1.5m-2m /5ft-6ft

Waves Quality:

Waves Shape:

Description:

The swell was building, having dropped off after the BongofbillsPro.  The water was noticibly colder today but still fine in a 3/2.  I got worked by a wave after about 20 minutes and my back started blocking and twinging - otherwise I'd have stayed in longer.

The waves were big on the sets but happily were quite catchabale at the Point.  Had 4 long rides down past the beach and onto the next section (150m-200m+).... and did a rare thing for me.... stopped the session on a great wave - didn't do that usual kak of paddling back out for 'one last wave'....

DSC05336  DSC05341

Forecast sites showed it being 12ft - which made for nice waves at Point and some pretty hectic rides at Supers (not me ;-).  The next day showed the forecast of 21ft swell..... happy that I was about 900km inland by then.

Not knowing JBay we went in in the middle of Impossibles - and surprise surprise, found the waves really hard to catch for a couple of unfit lame-ass weekend warriors.... we eventually worked our way down to the point and finally had some fun waves.

Highlight was two separate pods of dolphins swimming by us, we saw them coing down the point in the waves - and they cruised past at arms length.  vey cool.

Surfboard ridden: Fun board

Weather and water temp: It was a beautifull day

Waves height: Less than 1m / 3ft

Waves Quality:

Description:

Today Dzhoara, my husband and I went to la ocho to paddle. This wasnt our plan, our plan was going to Pine Grove but it was too crowded. Id woken up from drinking heavilly and falling asleep with my contacts with a mega case of eye irritation and the only way I could actually do anything was with a bandage on my eye, so yes I looked like a pirate. Getting there took forever, it was equally crowded and I had to park about a mile away but I wasnt going home so I walked.

Once I got there we saw a group of people gathered and when I walked closer to see what it was and a few looked back it hit me. To the side there were about 20 boards, real boards not like the one I have and in the middle of the whole thing was a crown of flowers. Fuck!!! I quietly made myself scarse and headed for the water w DZ and hubby.

Dzhoara and I paddled back and forth and when we were comming out, the group was comming in... Im a very religious person and what I saw that day was..... beautifull, fucking beautifull. A huge group of surfers saying good bye the best way they know how, passing us bye in prayer. The energy was creepy, calming and ..... beautifull. Im in awe and if my time comes this is the way Id like to say my final goodbye but hopefully not yet....
