this is a great spot and when everywhere else is big it can still be small - everyone knows this. the best thing you can do if your'e a visitor like me is dawn patrol it. it doesnt take long before the crowds appear then it becomes a free for all - even at last light it can still be busy. get there first light and enjoy

Description:
waves close out on shallow shifting sand bars and provide fast barrels if youre good enough to cope with it all. most of the better surfers are on the next beach closest to the cliff. r.e. the main beach I found the waves better either just to the left or just to the right in front of the rocks on either side. definately works best on high tide. best wave height would be 2-3 ft.

I was afraid that the swell was too long (12s...) but it was surfable. Ok there were some close outs but the right was good. I have seen a guy going through the tube several times.
I got small ones but not as beautiful. It was hard to paddle back.

Ouch ! It was surfable but hard to take. The wind was strong, very strong. But if you manage to take the wave, it was very good to surf. We were only 4 in the water. A good session even if it was not perfect.

Description:
Having missed some of the best waves in Israel for many years (I arrived the day after the swell - classic :-) this new swell was welcome. Totally flat the yesterday and nice 1-1.2m swell today. Sets had head-high faces - which was unexpected and nice - very fat waves. I rented a secondhand board for a couple of hours from Ultrawave in Hertzliya (nice guys) and had a ball. The north side of the marina was a bit smaller than south and further north but protected from the wind and made for nice waves. Crowded, but the waves broke all over the place so everyone could get something even despite goatboarders. at the end of the session a few paddle boarders came out and mostly struggled, but saw one great wave taken.

The waves were incredible but too fast for me. Kelly Slater would have made some 10s tubes. I am not Kelly Slater. In all those waves, I got 3 diamonds : a beautiful tube (close out but the vision was great), a left for tricks and a big one where I have done a big carve.
Know, I am destroyed because of the wipe outs and washing sets...Aie !

The swell was a big close out in the south (period of 10s) so I decided to go to the Gurp and I found not so big waves (1.20 to 1.50m) but very clean ones ! I optimized my bottom. A good session.

No waves this year in Normandy except today : it was a surprise small but long swell (13-14s, 2ft). I found with Manu funny 1m-1,20m waves. But It made me remember that waves of Normandy are powerless !

After one full month without surf, the swell was clean, tubular and enjoyable. I was alone on my peak with very good waves. The bonus : SWOP let me its 5'2" mini simmons to test it ... I hesitated on the beach because of the good quality of waves: I didn't want to miss the session. But I finally took the mini simmons
Strange board, hard to surf, you need to move your back foot on the fin at every turn. BUT I never never never surf a fatest surfboard !!!! I have done carving from outer space, floater, even an aerial. My difficulty on this board is the bottom and the tube : tubes today were easy but I didn't came close to catch one as the board was too fast. I didn't succed to slow enough. The board is very safe with serious wave and hold hollow faces. What a surprise !!!!

I have taken a holiday, expecting 1.20 m waves. BUT this morning, it was only...50cm ! So I decided to go to seignosse where the waves were bigger. I got 1m sometimes puncy but far from pefect.
I remember 2 waves: one good left with a big aerial (not landed...) and one tube where I have been sucked other the lip (gloups)
Nethermind, it was sunny, I was happy !

Went out for a session with a mate, both of us had new boards to break in. Weather was pretty average but there was no-one else out there which was awesome. The waves were 2-3ft, a little choppy but the wind was cross/off so they held up pretty nice and I got plenty of waves on the new twinnie, she carves like a little beast. The window to surf was narrow: only before 11h ! and, bad luck, the tide was very very low. But the sandbanks were good. Several peaks which were moving quickly.
I got fun rights with long walls. A good session.

Yes ! after 4 years of waiting period, I have surfed again the spots. Ok, it wasn't massive but it was enough to have a good session.
The take off is on the rocks. Check the photos: I was really near the rocks, no less than 2m !!!! I fall 2 times on the rocks.... Hopefully without being hurts.

Ouch ! The swell was solid and gnarly. The current was insane ! Waves were very hard to take. I got big waves but it was just "no-turns-to-survive"

Thought i would drive to miserys with a few mates, curious to see what it was like, we got down to the beach but couldnt see any waves in the corner, we wandered down the beach to check it out and saw an awesome mini wedge come through with a sick side wash ride into a huge wall where the waves collided an finished with a hollow shallow barrel at the end. We raced to the car and got are wetties on and gear, flung down to the beach again and charged this spot for ages, Awesome shaped wedges formed every where and we were having a sick time getting little speed of the side wash flying up the wedge and the launching down the beach in a tube!! Sick Day...

You are never desappointed at Le Gurp ! The swell was smaller than yesterday but the lefts were just perfect and fast. I got long walls to surf with big drops. I think it will be the biggest waves I can surf with my 6'4". If bigger I will nedd my 6'8".
