I wantedsolid waves and I got them! The swell was long : 11s so I decided to go to the north. At le Pin sec, it was nearly unsurfable. The paddle was hard. But after, I surfed 10 really good waves, rights and lefts. It was a solid 2m. As the tide was higher, I changed and paddled to a hollow left with 2 other surfers. Ouch, it was hollow: I got some hair dropped take off, and log hollow walls (1.5m). But unfortunately the current became stronger and it was impossible to surf.

This is my first time surfing!
After considering for about a year& after trip in Bali for diving, I've seen surfers on Kuta beach. It was COOOLL! Then one day my friend ansked me to go out to learn surfing. Immediately i joind it!
Today my instuctor always hold the tail& look for good waves to release& push me out.
Thaank you so much. For me i succeeded, I can stand for 10-15sec in my first session.
Feel so good& totally fall in love with surfing!

Hurricane Marie (that is) hovered off Mexico's Pacific coast Saturday, barely moving on its northwestern path. Originally a tropical storm off the Mexican resort city of Acapulco it strengthen into a hurricane Sunday, according to the National Hurricane Center in Miami. Marie, the sixth hurricane of the eastern Pacific season was located about 200 miles (325 kilometers) south of Acapulco and was expected to remain off the coast as it drifts west. Marie was centered 845 miles (1,365 kilometers) southwest of the southern tip of the Baja California Peninsula. It was moving north at 2 mph (4 kph) and was forecast to turn west and head farther away from land.
Sunday morning 6:30 AM the 'Ray Bay Surf Club' was in the river parking lot in full force: River Bob (the professor) Tony & Rick, Surfer Tom, Uncle Jay, Gary, Marcus, Mike (Pinkie) the fisherman, myself (Bruce) and not to forget the gorgeous Andrea (named after the famous California San Andreas Fault, as she said "It's always my fault".)
Middles: Barracuda's:
Thank's to Marie, Ray Bay was going off! Chest to shoulder high with the occasional head high peak. All the way from Barracuda's by the north wall, across middles, to Crabs by the south jetty. As I paddled out on my 9'2" performance longboard, Surfer Tom came sliding across a nice one, the curl snapping across his shoulders. Surfed middles and moved over to Cuda's as the tide came in. Caught a couple of face high left hand 'bombs' into the breakwall, then back over to Crabs for almost a four hour session ... then had to go to work at noon!

Back out this morning (monday) with Stuart (Bruce 11) for another four hours, this time riding my 7'2" SuperFish. Not quite as big but really clean and fun! Pinkie got another one of his trademark head-dips in the curl, Bruce took off his usual way, deep, deep, deep and pumped his way all the way across. Uncle Jay got a nice cheater five on his 4" thick hand made special, the "Rubber Ducky". Gary watched me take off deep, on a nice shoulder high peak with a young kid, faked left, lost him, slid my back foot onto the tail and snapped it up and down hard, all the way across Crabs. Gary said "Did you say you were sorry ... yeah sorry but I got the wave!"
Don't know if I can make it out tomorrow, I'm worn out, beat up and the inside of my knees were bleeding (ouch) ... Bruce had real bad nipple rash!

Back to Le pin sec. Solid swell. Hesitation between here and northern spots such as Le Gurp, L'Amélie. But finally, this was the best choice. A surfer coming back from thenorth said it was too small for Le Gurp and not good at Soulac.
Took 5 big waves: 4 lefts and 1 right. Solid (overhead), fast. A continuous current from N to S. Paddeling all time. The shorereak was very impressive. Had to pass thru :(
Good session! Maybe the last one of 2008 cos it's getting cold...

The tide was too high when we arrived. But when we started to surf it was perfect. A righ-left wave, a lot of current, long walls and jpower. It was a good session even it was hard to caugh the waves.

First of all, Wes was the one who came up with this plan. It was he who saw the full 3 star report for Thursday on Magicseaweed.com.
So, that night at 11:30pm, I packed up the wagon and slept at a highway rest-stop on the border of NH. Woke up at 5:30am on Thursday morning, and drove over to the Wall by 6:15 (first light.)
I ate too much carbs before getting in the water, so I was about to puke paddling out. It took me 2 hours to finish digesting the crap I ate, and then it was surf heaven.
I'm seriously considering getting some boots so that I don't break a toe when the leash gets caught between my toes.
Waves were glass. Single peak 6 footers that were a good 200 yards off the beach. Simply one of the best rides.

Out for only 45 minutes. That's what happens when I wait on my wife to get dressed and put on makeup. She didn't even surf! But at least she came with me and my pup.
Good waves. i rode until past sunset. 3 footers that were pretty fast, considering. Good Harbor has some powerful little rollers and good rides.
Supposed to be better tomorrow.

Perfect wind but too small. It's uncommon weather situation this years September. Usually, some ex tornados from USA power up the east Atlantic but nothing yet happens. Low pressure systems over south Europe + north Africa turn cold arktic air offshore to our backs, making nights freezing and waves small. I remeber a lyric from Sidney Youngblood:
"All You can do is sit and wait..."

Trip Schedule was to do some "Island hopping" down the S/W coast of France.
Weather conditions are perfect for a shopping walk along the promenades, but surf is totally missing. So we change decisions and go down south to Gironde with a one day stop at Les Conches. Hope to find a bit of swell at the Medoc.
