feb 10 2007 Not thats great the wind made it hard to ride once standing. was really choppy and not that great of a day. the shore break for to the left was very good nice and smooth. Its seems like a better spot to surf if its breaking and sorter paddle too.

Secret Harbour is f*cking insane. If you aint a local i wood not recomend surfin there u shood try down or up the coast if u plannin a trip there dont go jus a bit further down to margot river far better way less crowds. I surfed secret harbour three mabey four times now and every single time ive had trouble. Like around last year some time in the middle of winter i we stopped over at one of ma mates house in secret harbour. In the mornin we checked the swell and it was pumpin it was absolutly of the hook so we got our stuff nd headed down to secret harbour. The sun was only just up and already there was a good 20 guys out there. Ma mate told me it was normal and that the crowd would proably tripple or double. I wasent surprised as the waves where really good had nice shape easy take off not very hollow but they had a decent barel sorta like scabs. As i was paddling out some dick let go of his board instead of duckdiving and the thing smashed in in my head. Without even checking 2 see if i was alright the c*nt paddled off. Cos i dont surf there that often i decided to sit on the sholder for a little while and just c what it was doing. The wave looked good enough so i paddled over to the take off point. I got my first wave and it was reel nice i pulled into a nic little barrel before shooting out and pulling a flawless little cutty followed by a big reo. As i was paddling back out i see my mate goin in for his wave its clearly his but some little shhit drops in on him when hes in the most critical part of the take off forcing him to go over the falls. Once we were both out the back he told me that was pretty common around here. We'd been out for about 20 mins and the crowds where getting bigger and bigger. I finally decided that this place didnt have any sense of share and care so if i wanted a wave id have to go and really fight for it. I was in the perfect position for a very clean 4 fter but when i was paddling the guy on my inside was too he didnt look like he was gonna stop either so i called the wave and he yelled back at me to fuck off. Now i wasent gonna put up with that shit. I made the drop and he was just nearly on his feet and i shoved him in the back into the water and continued to ride the wave in. When i got back ot the back he realy had a go at me for a while i thought there was gonna be a punch up but it turned out that he was all talk and no action sorta guy so i got away with it. We'd probly been surfing for about 2 hours now and both of us got som reel good waves. We'd had a fairly good luck with the crowds until ma mates next wave. He was already up and clearly it was his wave yet for some reason the guy on his outside grabbed his leggie and his leg and yanked him clear off. The guy then held him under the water until my mate bit a chunk outa his arm. We then went in as quickly as we could and went to surf tims thicket and pyrimids both where better.

Description:
A clear, crisp “Indian Summer” morning in December 2003 ... light NE Santa Anna offshore wind blowing off the desert. Ray Bay ... the San Gabriel river mouth sand bar, Seal Beach, California. A big WNW ground swell rolling down from a massive low pressure storm system in the gulf of Alaska.
There are three lineups in the river mouth depending on the sand bars and the tide. Barracudas, way out at the end of the northern breakwater, Middles in the center and Crabs out in front of the southern breakwater see the Google map. Once in a blue moon it is possible to catch a set out at Cuda’s and ride it all the way past Crabs ... over a mile.
On this morning giant peaks were rolling in Middles and peeling all the way across Crabs. Due to the “Surfline” swell report everyone and their dog was there including a local TV Channel and the entire Huntington Beach crew (HB was closing out). Water temp in the river was a chilly 60F a few degrees warmer than up or down the coast due to the warm water discharge from upriver power stations ... hence the summer breeding ground for the largest population of Stingrays in California and the name Ray Bay.
Peeled on my O’Neil 3/2 watching local “River Bob” in cheater five mode scooting across a long glass wall and paddled out quickly during a lull. Sat just a little inside of the outside pack and outside the inside group ... watched a couple of sets roll in noting that the outside waves did not connect with the center peak.
Then the horizon lit up with peaks ... everyone started scratching seaward. Realized the outside bunch were too far out and too far inside to catch the set I took off on the second wave ... a monster at least three feet overhead.
I like to drive deep then come off the bottom hard, out and up, so when I hit the lip I can stall , cut back or drive for speed to make a critical section. On this wave I dropped forever ... screamed at a shortboarder trying to drop in and suddenly saw two guys right in front of me frantically paddling for the shoulder! I could go high in front of them but would probably get nailed ... so I faded back into the peak around them.
Sometimes incidents like this set you up for perfect position ... as I came off the bottom I ducked as the lip came over my head and I was rocketed down the barrel ... the wave eased up for a second and I came up from my crouch and trimmed forward ... then it was on again ... the wave accelerating my board so fast that it began to vibrate and the tail started to slip ... on and on ... felt like a shell coming out of a cannon ... all the way across the rocks at Crabs ... you could hear the wave grinding until I was out into the beach break ... ran up to the nose and ... promptly pearled!
That was pretty much it ... paddled back out and caught a couple more nice ones climbing and dropping but the crowd was getting insane ... still it one of the best waves I have ever ridden!

it was around 6 pm and the surf had been absoultly shit every where i couldnt find a wave no matter where i went. Ma mate called me nd said that floreate was going off and i didnt reely belive him as it was so crap everwhere else. But i decided to go down and check it out. If you where a surfer it would be considered too sketchy to even try to surf but for lids the place was going off. Ma mate being a lid was completely stocked as the waves where hollow as hell spitting and it was knee depth out the back. Actually it was so shallow that when these waves started breaking you could see the banks emerge from the water. But that didnt stop no lids some of the best lids in perth where out there one guy managed to bust three barrel rolls a spinner and some kind of air in 1 wave. I went to the end of the groin to film and i watched these boggas do stuff that literally defiys all the laws of gravity and stuff. Basically the surf was absolutly epic if you where a lid but just as crap as normal if u was a standup.

A small day at Sele.
Went home from work 30 min early to catch some waves before other plans later in the evening. Only 4 other surfers out when I got there. The waves were small and glassy. Seldom there where set witch was a litle larger. With waves over 1 m.
I had some decent waves, but a longboard would have been more fun. The average waves where a bit small for minimal. The skie was blue and the sun shined nicely. With no wind this was a pretty nice and funny session.

Lovely day at Sele.
I had taken a day vacation from work to surf due to good forecast for surf.
I was in the water at 9.30 in the morning with waves that closed. After 30 minutes the offshore wind started and the waves got perfect shape. There where just 5-10 other surfers in the water thru the whole session.
I used my minimal from the start but changed it with the shortboard after a few hours. Both boards performed excellent in the glassy waves.
One of the top 3 sessions in my life.

Description:
Cold session ! The sea was smoky ( only 1° on the parking). it was a really fun session: the waves were easy to ride even if it has a lack of power. nethermind I was with ben and loig. We din't have surfed together since a long time and I really enjoyed to go there with them.
I take several long waves good for carving. My 6'4" was perfect for this.

great session! diddnt get to go so long cuz the water was so cold. carmel is one of the most under rated places ive ever seen. i would have to say its by far one of my favs in california. white sand, sandy bottom, hollow waves and not mutch of a crowd. loved it!!!
