Wind Strength: Light

Nb waves ridden: More 15+

Length of the surf session: 2 min

Surfboard ridden: Shorty

Fins: 3

Weather and water temp: Nice & Nice

Waves height: 1.0m-1.5m / 3ft-5ft

Waves Quality:

- Fast

Waves Shape:
- Walls
- One peak

Description:

Hit the water at 5:15 - Still dark. It was a bit bigger than I anticipated, but still not the 4-6 that Surflie.com was hyping. Got two good waves, snapped my leash, and went to get another from the car. When I got back, all of Malibu had arrived, with their friends.

Fortunately, it was breaking outside the rock, so they were more like buoys than competitors. There was one guy on the inside though that didn't seem to understand etiquette (there's always at least one here!). However, he did understand a few buckets of water in the face.

It was good to see a couple other regulars there. It's always nice to surf with guys who know how to lineup and share.

Lotsa fun! Sea you out there!

Description:

Paddled out at Secos on my way home from work.  I normally like to ride my 7'9" here but I only had my shortboard with me.  Oh well, I paddled out into a fairly crowdedline-up.  then again...3 people at Leo can be crowded depending on how consistent the wave is.  I saw the regular crew of longboarders and I managed to pick of some waves even with the shortboard.  It was ok, nothing eppic, bui fun.

Session: TOO MUCH FN KELP

Written by NBC show NBC profile

Saturday June 2 2007 10:41:16 PM

Surf spot: Leo Carillo, United States of America

Session's Rate:

Wind direction: No wind

Nb waves ridden: 20

Length of the surf session: 3 min

Surfboard ridden: Towers 7'9" Fun shape

Fins: Thruster

Weather and water temp: 75/63

Waves height: 1.5m-2m /5ft-6ft

Waves Quality:
- Fun

Waves Shape:
- One peak

Description:

Came back to Leo and brought my 7'9" fun board this time.  Caught alot more waves, and it was breaking outside the rock so it was challenging being the only goofyfooter sitting the deepest on the point.  I actually bailed just to the right of the rock, and thought my board crashed into it, but somehow it survived, and I kept surfing.  The KELP is ridiculous but it makes for a smaller crowd, and causes all the shortboarders to sit on the inside of the kelp.  Fun session, but could've been epic with no kelp.

Session: Malloy at LEO?

Written by NBC show NBC profile

Friday June 1 2007 04:30:00 PM

Surf spot: Leo Carillo, United States of America

Session's Rate:

Wind direction: Offshore

Wind Strength: Light

Nb waves ridden: 15

Length of the surf session: 3 min

Surfboard ridden: My 1985 Fluid Drive

Fins: Thruster

Weather and water temp: 75/62

Waves height: 1.0m-1.5m / 3ft-5ft

Waves Quality:
- Fun

Waves Shape:
- One peak

Description:

Took my 80s 6'0 thruster to Leo on Friday.  There is tons of kelp right now at Leo so I needed a board with less rocker and more thickness to push through all that salad.  The crowd wasn't that bad, because of the kelp, and I managed to catch some from the outside, but had to be strategic when trying to make it through the kelp.  Keith Malloy paddled out on a longboarder with a camera, and Im sure he did the same thing as I did, traveling south because there is no waves in Ventura.
