Description:
The swell was very long (12s period). Waves at le gurp were not big enough : only 1.20 - 1.50 m. But it was barreling !! Waves were very fast : the take off was hard because the peak was moving all the time. As they were nobody in the water, I made a mistake about the size and took a board too big : the 6'8". Nethermind it was ok and I got 2 big tubes. A good session.

The tide was high but I went to the south and found a very good peak. I was alone. I got very good hollow waves and a lot of rights which unusual on this spot.
The surf was 150m long with big carves.

Nearly same conditions as yesterday : I woke up early and arrived at the dawn. Long powerful waves were cranking :1.5m to 2.5m on the biggest ones.
I was alone and went to the south peak. In fact it was less perfect than yesterday but still very good !
I have a criteria : at the take-off, if you need to paddle down to take the wave, then it's big and hollow.

I woke up at night and went to the north. I was not sure that it was the good plan. But when I arrived, I disovered perfect hollow waves whithout any surfers ! I jumped into the water and surf alone for 45mn.
I got maybe the longest waves I ever had in Bordeaux : 200m ! (long paddle back)/ After people came but it was not a problem. The most interesting sets took time to come in so I didn't took so many waves.
What a session !

I came back here : the swello was bigger than yesterday and the waves seemed less organized. but they were better.
I got good long walls with two really good ones : big carves and top turns at full speed.

Wonderful waves : I was alone on my peak (a lot of close outs but some opened and it was good). 2 tubes ! Waves were around 1.5m sometimes 2m.
On the other peaks the locals were really angry and stupid with people. A shame.

Description:
Comme j'ai failli aller surfer avec Tibok aujourd'hui, voici un petit
report. Départ matinal dans le nuit pour aller au point G dans le Nord
Médoc. La bouée est à 5m. Arrivés sur place, il fait froid, -1°C. La
houle est, comment dire, massive. Personne à l'eau. Chose rare, les
bancs au large pètent en permanence. Gloups. Le copain reste au sec pour
prendre des photos.
Première partie de session:
Le chenal détecté m'emmène sans souci derrière la barre.
Ha, quelles belles vagues puissantes ! c'est beau !
Ha, quelles belles vagues puissantes ! Heu...cela pète au large, cela m'inquiète un peu...
Donc ne vous fiez pas à ces photos, ma session c'était essentiellement
cela. Placement difficile, houle trop longue qui saturait ce spot (et
pourtant il en faut !), courant.
J'aime les canards 1
J'aime les canards 2, ben oui, on est dans le Médoc quand même
Celle là c'est ma préférée : je suis en train de me faire prendre par une série "plus grosse". Pour info, ma planche est une 7'3" soit 2.40m. Ouch.
Au total, j'ai quand même pris 3 vagues.
Une à taille humaine
plus costaud, c'est suffisant pour moi...
Je me fais sévèrement atomiser sur mon retour à la plage : un peu limite niveau sécurité.
Deuxième
partie : juste en face du parking, un joli pic velu d'1.20m déroule.
J'y prendrai 8 vagues très sympathiques. Ouf ! c'est quand même plus
plaisant !

I had the right equipment: I took my 6'8" because the swell seemed long, I have change the fins to have smaller ones (PC3 FCS), I changed my gloves, got my new ATAN boots. I was alone in the water for 1h15. The waves were powerful and hollow. In my waves, I got 3 treasures: one big slab where i caught maybe my biggest tube ever, then I got 2 beautiful walls whare I carved with my gun....
Then the locals came. It was other.

Ouch ! It was surfable but hard to take. The wind was strong, very strong. But if you manage to take the wave, it was very good to surf. We were only 4 in the water. A good session even if it was not perfect.

You are never desappointed at Le Gurp ! The swell was smaller than yesterday but the lefts were just perfect and fast. I got long walls to surf with big drops. I think it will be the biggest waves I can surf with my 6'4". If bigger I will nedd my 6'8".

After 2 weeks of no surf, (2 to 3.5m swell onshore), the weather starts to be sunny and the swell was here. I get poweful 2m waves. It was a real pleasure !

It was solid and multipeak: so it was hard to take waves. I also make the classic mistake: I took a too small board, my fish. I managed to take wave but it was difficult to make big turns on the small board. Nethermind, I got some good one. I remember 2 big hollow lefts and a good right (I was well placed on my board and have done fun rollers).
I met also angry locals (angry with everyone). They were pretty funny in fact !

It was cold but perfect. The session started slowly with a fun 1m-1,20 m. It was long fun rippable walls. I had a lot of fun (cut-back, roller, etc,)
Then people started to come (and auto-proclameted anry locals 
). The swell rose up and we got 1,50 m, very beautiful.
I surfed a good tube, and small ones. A good session

Haaa, again, the Medoc waves !!!
I started my session alone (there was some angry locals but they just stayed on the dunes..). I got some really clean waves. Some sets were more than 2m. The others were 1.5 to a good 2m. I have done good carving and get nearly tubed !
After one hour, surfers started to come but I managed to get all the waves I wanted.
A really good session.

I decided to go to surf just at the middle of day. The morning was cloudy with some rain. But at lunch, the sun went out and the webcams showed good waves.
When I called the report, they said that the swell was rising rapidly... I arrived at Le Pin Sec but it was too big:2m - 3m perfect !
I went to Le Gurp and I found really good waves. But there was some localism: we were only 7 surfers !! The locals of Le Gurp haven't changed in 10 years. They have attacked 3 surfers for no reason. Only stupidity. (for myself, I kept an idiot smile)

A solid 2m+ session with Yann and a frind of him named Thibaut. The Biscay buoy reports a swell of 3.5 to 4.0m... oups, the waves were here. Massive 2m+ powerful waves :) Got 4/5 of them. Really cool

The Gurp again ! The Gurp my love !
We found 2m+ waves. 5 surfers were on a better peak (1.5 m right-left waves) but as they were really good we prefered to go to the south. An d we got BIG walls, har to take but really fun to surf.
We get pitched by big sets also...

Me and Gabi decided to go even if the conditions expected were far from good: onshore wind with multipeak waves. but after seeing the forecast, the wind should turn offshore only for few hours. And we were lucky. At the start of the session, it was crosshore with powerful bowls. The it was getting better and better

We get a really big tempest this week... so I didn't expected that there was waves today. But...this morning... sunny sky...long swell. I took my afternoon and went to Le Gurp. When I arrived, waves seemed small but I noticed TUBES !!! I just jumped into the water....
As usual at Le Gurp, waves were bigger than thought. It was a long hollow wall with some tubes. We were only 3 in the water. After I forced me to slow down while staying high on the face even if the wave was fast and hollow... and I caught the tube !
My second tube was different: I went straight pretty far the I turned while letting the wave coming other me, I put a top turn (the hard part) and the wave passed other myhead: it was a standup tube, I even watch the sun trough the lip other my head.
The images below don't show the good waves as I wanted to run to the water....

I first went to Lacanau but when I arrived: the swell was already too big to surf. Long lines crashed all on the outside banks.....
So I decided to go to Le Gurp. And it was a good decision: the swell was really easy to surf. Waves were around 1,5 m not too powerful , sometimes at 2m. It was easy to paddle outside. And the waes were hollow but not too fast: I caught 3 tubes ! At the end, the tide wa too low. It was time to came back home.

ouch... if the waves were a little smaller than last week, they were more powerful, hollower and faster. The peak was moving a lot and there was some current. I was alone, gloups... But, after 30 mn of observation, I started to feel comfortable and I caught some good waves.
Results: 11 wawes with 4 bombs + 1 tube... not a bad session 
The video shows that it was not a easy session
And the photos show that it was hollow...

Whoooo... As the swell was big and the other beaches not surfable, I went to Le Gurp. The waves were multipeak and it was evident if the session will be good or not. I take my longest board as I didn't knwow the size (I was the first in the water).
Waves were difficult to take and I only caught 10. But 5 of them were bombs !! Big drop, big turn and a long hollow wall. I was 2 times at the end of the tube. I get also 3 falls-with-the-lip. And the lip was thick.
At the end a really good session.

It's my first surf session of 2008 ! after days of big tempests, big swells, I fisnished to believe the 2008 surf winter will be very bad. I didn't expected to surf this week end. But, when I wake up this mornig, the sky was clear with a strong offshore. After a call to the surf report, I decided to go straight to the north. After a first stop: the swell was to big and I decided to continue to le Gurp.
And I get some good waves! long powerful walls, long turns and I was alone in the water. A very good session.

My best trick: a long, fast and hollow wall with a big drop on a 2 meters wave. Because of the currents, I was happy to have my biggest board, a 7'3". (i am not Kelly Slater...). We were only 2 surfers at this peak and it was good to pick just the good ones.

Ouch !!!!! We were only 2 guys in the water. I thought it would be an fun session (see the photo)
But, the swell was really long (11 seconds) and as it was multipeak, it was very hard to catch a surfable wave. I was very disappointed. I have also been caught by a violent set just in the impact zone....
In conclusion, it was not the best session of my life!

My Comments: the weather was cold and the water was smoky. It was a really strange session in the fog. You couldn't see waves coming so it was really hard to take off. It's a pity as the wawes were pretty good and powerful. Waves were smaller than yesterday but stayed powerful.
