7'6 or 8 surfboard? - 2013/06/08 15:36 I have this board in size 7'6

http://www.extremehorizon.com/surf-shop/Spider_mini_mal_custom_surfboard.html

I have had it for a few years and I only surf a few days/weeks a years. I get up now and then but think I am struggling a bit to much with this board.

Therefore I am considering to buy the 8'0 version

Would it be easier to catch waves if I go from a 7'6 to a 8'0?

My ambition is just to have fun and catch as many waves as possible since I only get to surf a couple of days/weeks each year.

EDIT: And my height is 185cm and I weigh around 86 kg

Re:7'6 or 8 surfboard? - 2013/06/11 02:11 Try 8'6". LSDROP my first board was an 8'6" Balsa, back in 1963, as a punk kid. Then went to 9'8" Joe Larkin then 10'6" then the short board revolution hit and went to an MP 7'6" Slipper with down rails and a 3.5" single fin to a 6' 2" MR Twin Fin. Now ride a 9'0" LOL

Re:7'6 or 8 surfboard? - 2013/06/12 21:14 It is not the length that matters ! The shape is the most important factor. A 7ft Minimalibu/Funboard ist easier to handle as a 9ft gun. The right compromise between easy catching and smart moves is a 7.2 to 8.2 round nose with a thick body and a broad deck.
Stay tuned!
